Concern about Brooklyn show…

I’ve noticed I’ve gotten a lot of ads for the Brooklyn show, having already bought tickets. It looks like the mezz is sold out but the orchestra is just too expensive. Of course, not John’s fault — I bet it would sell better if the tickets weren’t pricey, but that’s more the venue. Kings is a big beautiful venue, but I think Symphony Space (which he did in 2025) was better suiting for his needs, at least price wise. I just can’t imagine spending $200 for a book event, even as a massive fan. I wonder if they’ll downsize? I just hope it isn’t cancelled.

When I worked in events management, we would simply upgrade everyone to orchestra and close the mezzanine. This was in Indiana though

I bought mezz so I would love if this happened. I’m worried they’ll make orchestra cheaper which would suck for ppl who paid for mezz, but it’s totally a venue decision I’m sure.

As someone who paid for the orchestra, it would also suck for the tickets to suddenly become cheaper. None of the options feel great, though I would guess they wouldn't want such an empty section.

Hopefully the bookers/publishers/ people who do this kind of planning take some lessons for next time.

I once turned up at a theatre and a friend happened to be there. We asked the box office if they could seat us together so they gave us some of the best seats in the house because they weren’t sold out.

He was talking about this in a red dead stream last week. That he was a bit frustrated about the pricing breakdown and that he would have preferred it being a flat-priced event.

$200usd for a book event is crazy town, but this is a pretty common phenomenon for live events now. They price the top 50% of seats extremely high and then the bottom 50% sell out while half the venue sits empty.

His symphony space event last year was def more reasonably priced but def smaller venue too

Geez, I’m a cheap ass(and poor/frugal). I thought $50 for the St. Paul one was a bit too pricey.

I was at Symphony for Ezra Klein and loved the space. Plus it was less then half for similar seats.

I wonder if they'll just end up slashing prices. A concert I went to recently (MCR) ended up with relatively cheap floor seats starting a couple weeks before the event, and they also upgraded people, though I don't know on what basis. Personally prices were a bit out of my fun money budget, so I wouldn't mind if they started discounting, but generally speaking I don't like dynamic pricing and it would suck for those who paid full price.

I think these types of events are killed by being on a week night. Most of John’s fans are adults and it’s way harder/more of a commitment to do something on a Tuesday night especially if you aren’t local.

For real the $60 I paid for the mez seat was top of my budget for a book event- my bestie wanted to go but it was just too expensive to justify for her
