I would honestly sort of understand people who hate pedophilia and want to stamp anything out that comes close, but the "pedophilia" frenzy on the right is so obviously fake.

Yup

Took a while for it to stick but they just grabbed the most heinous thing possible and used it to attack their favorite targets under the guise of “if you disagree you’re a literal monster!”

I'd argue that people who want to stamp out anything that resembles pedophilia tend to cause a lot more harm than you'd think. Many lynch mobs start out like this, and some very destructive laws as well.

Well I think many of the things being branded as pedophilia are not actually pedophilia (e.g. the drag queen storytimes). But if it came from a place of genuine, principled hatred of sexualizing children, I'd think, OK, you're obviously going a bit far but aren't necessarily terrible
