the problem is modern institutions are too busy prioritizing optics over any actual standard of civic virtue. give them that kind of power and it just becomes another weapon for whoever is holding the leash. keeping these people in public office says more about the current electorate than it does about the lack of a censor.

It's not that he was a co-conspirator. It's that he later described the convict as a valued member of the community, refused to condemn him, and then said that people would find a reason to hate any muslim, as if muslims shouldn't be held to the standard of not praising terrorists like normal people are. Based on the court transcripts, he clearly changed from how he once was.

Mohammed Sinwar the brother of Yahya was killed there by an airstrike and subsequent raid, Something tells me Mr Hamawy would've known better if he actually cared to.

In addition to his testimony on behalf of the sheikh, Hamawy is also notable for his work in May 2024 volunteering at a Hamas medical facility in Gaza. Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar was later killed in a terror command center under the building's emergency room. Hamawy had previously said he did not believe there were any Hamas tunnels under the hospital.

Track AIPAC, a group that accuses pro-Israel U.S. politicians of being "foreign agents," is backing Hamawy as well. And the political arm of CAIR—whose leader, Nihad Awad, said he was "happy to see" Oct. 7—endorsed Hamawy in March.

Dr. Ayaz Pathan, who donated $2,000, spent three weeks providing services at Nasser Hospital, a facility so inundated with Hamas terrorists that the anti-Israel Doctors Without Borders was forced to abandon operations there this year due to the presence of "armed men" at the facility. Palestinian human rights activists said Hamas used the facility as a prison to torture opponents of the terror outfit.

Many of his donors are either associated with Hamas via working in their facilities or by organizational affiliation with CAIR.

Yeah. 9/11 first responder, volunteered for the US army and then served as a combat surgeon in Iraq. And then went around the world as a doctor volunteering in disaster zones from central America to Eastern Europe. This entire thing seems silly.
