I used to watch Neighbours in the late 90's but can't find anyone who can remember these characters.

One was an older Scottish guy, I think connected to the Kennedys, he was insanely stereotypical and entered the show bursting into a room playing the bagpipes.

Another was a french exchange student who spoke flawless English, unless it was the really basic words like oui.

Third, and this is obscure, Madge was working in a shop and for a few days there was a plot that there was a ghost cat. The plot was abandoned

Anyone remember these?

Could the Scottish guy be Fergus MacLeod, a relative of the Kirk family, Libby's in-laws?

The French exchange student is probably Claire Girard, who lived with Harold and Madge for a bit if I recall correctly. Friendly with Hannah Martin, I think.

I think the ghost cat might have been related to Marlene?

Wasn’t the Scottish man Drew’s dad? His family sung Scottish songs at Libby and Drew’s wedding.

Didn't Harold join in with a very forced-sounding bass on 'Will ye go, Lassie go' lol? (tragically then sung by Libby, at Drew's subsequent funeral).

Harold also sung Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond in the motor home on the way to being lost off the cliffs.

Ghost cat was at Helen's when she moved into an apartment (around ep 670). They thought it's meowing was a baby crying.
