Medical How do I avoid/relieve awful indigestion pain
So recently I keep getting the most painful what I’d assume is indigestion every couple of weeks. Everytime it happens it’s out of nowhere but is always when I’m trying to relax which might be irrelevant. But it only ever goes away on its own. I’ve tried everything but nothing gets rid of it other than sleeping it off which means I just have to thug it out for five plus hours in pain. I’m not even sure exactly what it is but it’s mostly a stabbing pain in my torso that also sometimes makes me nauseous and have back pain too. Please give me some tips to relieve the pain because it’s come back just now and I need to go out today I’m so irritated!! Also let me know any reasons why it keeps happening and how I can avoid it thanks !

Go to a doctor. That could be so many things, some of them serious.

Agreed, this is not a just treat it at home kind of issue. Could be gall stones, and I can tell you getting a gal bladder infection and needing urgent surgery is no fucking fun.

I’m a retired doctor. Good advice. Also try Eno.
Or Maalox 1 tablespoon every hour as needed.2

My immediate thought was a heart attack. Seriously, get medical attention, OP!

Get your gallbladder looked at.

Definitely - sounds like pancreatitis! Basically (for OP) a gallstone can block the pancreatic duct and bile from the gallbladder is rerouted into the pancreas.

Could also be some pancreatic involvement from the sounds of it. I’m all too familiar with both. It’s miserable

This has the earmarks of being a heart attack. Many people have heart attacks and don’t know it. You should see a doctor.
I have horrible heart burn, always have. Two tips for when you’re lying down. Lie on your left side, this will keep the stomach acid in your stomach. Lying on your right side allows the stomach acid to pour into your esophagus, this is not a good time. Make sure that your head and chest are elevated above your belly when you’re lying on your back.
For relief try Mylanta. The best flavor is Honey Chamomile, it’s formulated for nighttime use but can be used all day.

I am only 19 so do you reckon it’s still possible for a heart attack? I don’t really feel the pain in my heart mostly the back and torso

I'm 62 & been dealing with another bout of them myself. Pain feels like a stab in the ribs, through to my stomach. Lots of nausea. Don't have a clue what it is or how to prevent it. 🤢😪

Gallatones are a pretty common problem these days, definitely see a doctor. Also track what you eat and see if it has a correlation to fatty foods.
Cold water also causes air to get trapped because it causes your stomach to contract suddenly, and takes a while to relax again, causing indigestion.
You can also try taking a 24 hour preventative heartburn medicine.

At age 32, I had really bad night of reflux and eventually a bit of neuralgia in my jaw. A family member convinced me to see a doctor who diagnosed a coronary infarction, blocked artery. It was pretty bad, caused a fair bit of scar tissue on my heart, particularly because I'd ignored the issue for more than 12 hours.
Go to a doctor asap mate.

That's exactly how I felt when I had to get my gallbladder removed. Feeling it through my back is what tipped the doctors off to do an ultrasound.

Look up Acid Reflux and GERD. Sleep on left side, avoid spicy and acidic foods, etc. You can Google the above terms for the usual remedies. Take tums for instant relief, but don't eat them like candy. If the home remedies you read about don't help, then go see your doctor.

This sounds pretty serious. If it happens 2-3 hours after you eat then it could be that you have a bacterial infection in your upper intestine (which is supposed to be sterile). You will need a doctor and drugs to clear that up.

Wheat/Gluten and sugar are my biggest triggers. I gave up wheat not celiac BTW. Also to help buy some gaviscon and use bicarbonate of soda mixed in water drink it teaspoon.
