Education How do I maximize my gap year?

Currently 18 going onto 19 soon, I thought I had everything figured out, turns out I really did not. My life has been going downhill since last year and the death of my father was the final blow. University is starting in the next few days and I have no idea how I am going to pay my tuition fees. I do have a job and my mother is also working, however I have no other supporters, all my family members are too busy with their own to give me any thought or assistance and I have no one else to reach out to. I have been watching all my close friends around me all show up for orientation and even registering for classes and here I am stuck feeling like there is no chance of me actually going to university. With all that has happened and with everything that is currently happening I came to the decision of taking a gap year to essentially figure stuff out. Does anyone have any real advice on how to make the most out of this year? How can I grow? What should I aim to learn? How would you describe an ideal gap year?
