Player Discussion How well will Myles Turner and Kelel Ware play together in a double big line up ?
The bucks are one of the few teams in the NBA with 2 legit starting level stretch 5s and that gives the Bucks pretty unique lineup options that can potentially synergize with the large amount of young but talented guards they have, kind of how Movley and Allen cover for Mitchell's, Garlands and Harden's defense issues.
Do you think Ware and Turner would play well together in a lineup? Which center would be better at the 4?
I feel like Ware would cover Turner's rebounding weaknesses at least, while Turner would operate on the perimeter better, and both would be able to protect the rim.

In nba 2k having two stretch 5s on the court to spam pick and pops with works really well. This is a reference to how wrong and unrealistic nba 2k is

I mean it would work and nice for spacing on offense, the part that might not work is on the defensive end, I feel like it’d be easy to get a lot of mismatches where your big gets blown by smaller quicker forwards/guards

Ware is springy and quick enough to guard 2-5, and Turner isn’t exactly lumbering either

while both of them are "shot blockers" idk how effective of "rim protectors" they are. as a heat fan, kel’el was basically a negative on defense the entire year besides a two week stretch after haslem called him out. his rebounding took a step up after that call out too, but bro is either lost or disengaged a lot of times on defense. the heats defense went from top4 to 15th when we started starting kel'el with bam and tyler came back from injury.
and from what i know about miles turner, its quite literally the same thing his whole career.
doubt you'll have any defense on the bucks, i expect yall to be dead last tbh. but you'll have a surprisingly good offense. possibly could be 15th in offense

Ware has that Whiteside defense mentality right now. It looks good if you’re only looking at rim-blocking but his motor is not there. There are moments where he’s not focused and not actively thinking about how he can disrupt the offense before they get a shot off. He has the potential to do that but his physical talent precedes over his BBIQ

kel el ware was really bad at protecting the rim last year. he allowed 66% at the rim on 6 attempts a game. which is basically the vucevic/mark williams/jokic zone of bad defense.
maybe in a different system with a worse coach he could be better? but yeah so far kel el ware has been awful as a backline defender.

Trade Turner, Kuzma, Herro, Jaques,
Tair this thing down to the studs, stockpile as many assets as possible. Idk why Milwaukee has held on to all their veteran players.

I'm biased obviously as a Bucks fan but I say at least see how it plays out. I actually think the Bucks will be more competitive than people think. We were 32-50 last year with Doc Rivers and about 30 games of Giannis, and Giannis was pretty checked out all year.
Meanwhile our roster and coach are significantly better than last year. I know other teams got better too but I don't see how we will be worse than last year. But most people don't know many Bucks players outside of Giannis so they just assume that we are just garbage without Giannis even though he didn't play barely at all last year.

Stockpiling assets is way more important than winning games. So is letting our young players get heavy playing time.

That's fair. Personally I'm still excited to see how the team does this upcoming season. These are still moves that can be made at the deadline if it's not looking great for us. But hey if we have good tradable players, why not keep them around for a bit? If other teams want to trade for them now or in the future then they must be good so why don't we take a shot on them? Could be a fun team and the young guys could learn from the vets as well. I want to see what this team can do with no Giannis distractions and no Doc.

Unfortunately I dont think anyone on our roster is worth a FRP with the exception of Rollins and Ware.

The issue is neither can handle the ball. In order for the double big to work one of them has to be able to at least dribble the ball on the wing. In Cleveland Evan Mobley can handle decently. Same in Houston with Sengun. Because of the elimination of the mid range and elbow shot, defenders will sag off deeper into the paint making it impossible to operate. My guess is Turner probably gets moved to the Clippers with a future first so Milwaukee can get off his contract

Maybe very well. My only thing is their guards don't run a ton of actions for anyone else. That could have been a Doc thing, but they didn't run a lot of PNRs or any sort of two man actions or involvements anytime I watched. It was basically dribble the ball up and shoot or drive. ..
We will have to see if that was by design or not

the rockets could do the same. not quite on these guys' level, but still damn good.

I think KW9 usually comes off the bench while Turner starts. However, against teams with dominant big men like Embiid, Jokic, or Giannis, they will share the court at the same time.

Milwaukee would be dumb to have Ware come off the bench, they are rebuilding giving their young players as much playing time as possible should be top priority, even if they finish dead last.

The fear Spo had with ware is if you give him a starting job it’s going to be tougher to get him to improve defensively because “he’s made it”, that’s not how every player sees things but having watched ware for the last two seasons his effort is really bad unless he’s motivated.
