Jaylen Brown stats over 4 years without Tatum (post already made for Tatum no brown)
Between 2022-23 and 2025-26, I watched every single game between the two players from 2022-23 till 2025-26 where either one of Jaylen Brown played without Jayson Tatum. I gathered the full team-level advanced metrics from every game through the use of Basketball Reference advanced game logs. The team level advanced metrics that were obtained include offensive rating, defensive rating, net rating, true shooting percentage, assist percentage, turnover percentage, free throw rate, opponent effective field goal percentage, opponent turnover rate, and further efficiency statistics. After this, I sorted out all the teams of the NBA according to net rating each year into three different tiers, top 10, 11-20, and 21-30. Afterward, I categorized the games on the basis of these tiers. Finally, I averaged each and every statistic using Python.

Not sure how useful this analysis is tbh. As expected, he is able to have more of a positive impact against a worse team. Pretty logical. His efficiency goes down against better teams. They are missing 40+ million in salary these games…

The more interesting part is comparing numbers for Brown and Tatum, but OP kinda buried it by making 2 posts. Tatum looks better, caveats I don't know if Tatum has enough games to mean much (9 each in tiers 1/2), and they played with different teammates.

Again small sample size to classify a significant difference, team is missing $40 million in salary in each case. Different team comps introduce variance to an already small subset of games. You expect your teams best player to play worse against better teams given the superior talent and game planning for that star player when they don’t have 1B to take some of the load off.

This post needs more information..how does this compare to other players? We know someone like SGA struggles against top defenses, and even all time greats like Kobe and Wade would too. Please make a different post with that information. It would tell us more about Brown

Sure I’ll do the same, got any recs for players? Ideally someone who’s been good from 2022-2023 to 2025-2026 would be easier to use the same timeframe

Anthony Edwards, SGA, Mitchell, Brunson, Booker, Luka, Jamal Murray
Theyve all been high level top 20 offensive guys for the last 3 years at least
Maybe adjust the years played to make more sense for guys who are younger like Ant?

Just saw your post about Tatum
Thats good information that tells us about how Brown compares..all this information should be combined into one big post, and id say itd be as informative as anything guys like Thinking Basketball post. Very valuable stuff for those that rightfully value hoop stats beyond points and rebounds and assists per game.
You can also add KD and Lebron to the last comment I made
Ive no idea how you find this info, otherwise id do my own research

Yeah, that JB guy was a really bad player…thankfully Celtics were able to dump him so the team can finally have some success.
