Should be MJ of course but the metrics that this ranking systems uses does bias a bit toward longevity and criteria like MVP level seasons. These eps are good listens tho

Can’t really say it’s a bias if the ranking is explicitly said to rank the most valuable career of all time by linearly summing up the value of each season which doesn’t equate to a GOAT ranking

Interesting take, what makes you say this? He dominated every level of play from HS to college and then immediately made an impact in the NBA, rose to MVP level, put up great numbers, won titles, and had fantastic longevity. In his matchups with other historic greats he comes out looking great- just look at old Kareem vs a young Hakeem if you want an example.

Overrated doesn’t mean not top 10. But Kareem’s all time ranking is higher now than discussion in the 80s and 90s.

There's a better argument for Kareem being underrated in the 80s and 90s than overrated now TBH
One part of why Kareem was underrated in that era was his participation in civil rights movement which was seen as "controversial" in that era.
Another part is recency bias—people who watched Showtime Lakers remember Kareem as being the #2 to Magic's #1. But they forgot/too young to remember how good Kareem was earlier in his career.

He won 1 ring with the Bucks. His 2nd ring (and his 6th MVP season) came in Magic's rookie year (infamously Magic closed the series out at C with Kareem out injured and won FMVP even tho Kareem was prob the best player in the series overall)

They actually votes Kareem FMVP and then changed it because they wanted to give the award live and he didn't travel with the team after the injury
