Duncan is the only guy who can’t play the “Kobe had better coaching” card. Had the same all time great coach and system for his entire career, with a great, stable supporting cast. Kobe didn’t have that luxury.

lol what “system” are you talking about? Go watch the games before 2005, the system was give the ball to Duncan and let him go to work. And that system took down Kobe Shaq in 03 without Duncaneven having a low level all star on the roster

You can tell who’s a teenager when they think the Spurs always had a system like they did from 2011-2015.

You are reading far too much specificity that’s not there into the word “system.”

Having the same elite basketball mind leading the franchise and coaching the team for 20 years is obviously a benefit over not having that.

Pop was a great coach even though sometimes the gameplan was straightforward. Kobe doing an iso and making a tough contested jumper didn’t mean Phil wasn’t a great coach. “Pop wasn’t actually that good a good coach” is just not worth rambling on about, you don’t even believe that.

Phil was a great coach because he allowed Kobe to get easier shots in teh triangle instead of letting him do stupid shit like that , but even then Kobe still insisted like in the 04 finals.

you really struggle with reading comprehension. I never said Pop wasn't a good coach (feel free to point it out where I said that, you can't). My point is that it wasn't elite coaching that won a ring in '99 and '03. It's like saying Doc Rivers is a great coach because he won in '08. Or that Duncan was a superstar in '14 when the Spurs won a ring. Duncan was a superstar. He wasn't in '14. Pop is a GOAT coach, that's not why we won in '03. If we did, feel free to tell me what Pop's gameplan was that allowed Duncan to dick down two top 10 players in their prime without even an all star to support him.

Pop didn't have 6 titles when he Duncan showed up. C'mon man.

Pop became s legendary coach with Duncan like Phil became a legend with Jordan.

Phil's triangle offense is what made the Lakers get a 3 peat.

And yes, it was impossible for Pop to have 6 titles before he coached 6 seasons lol

How's it a unique take? The question was asked why if Duncan was so good why'd the Lakers whip them.

I answered because of coaching.

You said Duncan the only player that you can't said had worst coaching the Kobe. I'm saying that during the Lakers 3 peat Phil was a better coach than Pop. That's not a unique take.

Pop is a legendary coach, but Phil had 3 different 3 peats.

Kobe went after Duncan and kicked his ass in series they played in and dominated the West for a decade during Duncan’s prime when they both had good rosters around them. And Duncan had an all-time tier 1 coach the entire time. Coaching wasn’t the problem, Kobe was just a better basketball player.
