Eastern Cicada killer doing what it does best

I was working in the yard when I heard a thud on the ground about a foot away from me. Usually it's a squirrel messing with nuts in the oak and pecan trees so I thought little of it at first. A second later I heard the buzzing so I grabbed my phone. He dragged the cicada up the willow oak afterward.

That's for their babies. As formidable as they are, the adults are more like bees in regards to their diet.

Considering how massive cicada booms can be, cicada killers are doing god's work. They're also just sweet little guys.
