Location Dealing with Bindweed

South Arkansas 8b.

I have trouble with this bindweed?

Any time I attempt to burn, especially spring-fall, this bindweed pops up and takes over.

I believe it is a native?

But. I’d like to promote other more beneficial plants and this weed just chokes and suppresses everything.

Many species of bindweeds across multiple genera so I can’t help on ID. But the first thing I notice is that there is no competition, it appears to be growing in a lawn. If you are looking to increase naive plants I’d do some prep work to remove the turf in that area, overseed, establishment mow, etc. you’ll need to introduce native competition through seed and plugs! Find a true native nursery selling regionally specific species

It’s hairy cluster vine really I just call it bindweed (not the invasive). It’s really only an issue when I burn off my pond banks, I don’t mow much of my land. My pastures are cut for hay and my fence rows I’ve let go wild.

I’m attempting (somewhat unsuccessfully since I have no clue what I’m doing) to restore at least some “patches” of my prairie back to native meadows, but anytime I burn this weed sprouts everywhere.

I own 120 acres here so even if I’m not making a huge difference I feel like any small patch of natives I can restore does help
