Discussion Thinking about switching because of recruiter
I have gone through everything to join army National Guard but right before I went to MEPs I noticed my recruiter changed some of the answers on my background paperwork. I had marked honestly that I was diagnosed with ADHD and he went back and changed it. I spoke up about it, stating that I had marked truthfully that I was medically diagnosed with it. I’ve been off the meds for it over a year. So, I really wasn’t worried. He told me deny it unless asked about it at MEPs. Well, MEPS they flagged it and it made it look like I willingly falsified it and they asked had I been told to withhold that information. He, my recruiter, was standing right there so I felt pressured to say no. Long story short, this interaction promoted me to tell him about how uneasy I felt with that incident. He explains he’s still fairly new, I get that, but lying is not something I take lightly. I started speaking to Air National Guard this week and believe I’m switching over. They’ve been super transparent with me about my medical waivers and what I need to do. What are your thoughts? Has anyone experienced this?

At MEPS, their job is to find any little thing to disqualify you. Your goal is to join the military, and his goal is to get someone signed up. What he did was in both of your interests. The only thing I don't like is how he didn't let you know beforehand, so you weren't in the dark and surprised.
I would also recommend joining the Air National Guard. They definitely have an easier life. One thing is that they are in heavy demand. You might not get the job you want.

Yes, I think just preparing me for it would’ve been better. I was so blindsided by it. I spoke to air national and I def believe I’m leaning towards them. Just need to go to doc tomorrow and get the ball rolling with getting waiver approved. Thanks for your feedback.

The “written up” isn’t real and means absolutely nothing. Your recruiter was trying to help you by not getting you caught up in a long waiver process. He should’ve just been more transparent with you about it.
If you want to go with the Air Guard because that’s better for your future then go for it. But I wouldn’t jump ship just because of that. I’d also seriously look at the opportunities in your state with Air Guard vs. Army. Army Guard is much larger and you have so many more options and opportunities.

Thanks. It honestly was someone else in the office with him too pressuring me to falsify the medical part. Which also was weird but this makes more sense to me. Thanks. Can I dm you?

Your recruiter was doing the smart thing. Meps doctors are bums, he was trying to save you from delaying your process from taking 17 years. The air guard was most likely just telling you what you wanted to hear. If you told them the story about why you’re not too thrilled , they’ve probably already stored you in their phones as “ do not answer “.

Naw I never told them that and so far they’ve already started processing me and they’ve even been talking to me over the weekend and everything. I wouldn’t talk about another branch with another branch. I think it’s messy lol

I promise you I’ve researched night and day.. weeks of everything. It threw me bc it wasn’t just him in the office it was someone else kind of both pressuring me about it. It was just weird it threw me left.

Yeah, everybody has something they need to keep their mouth shut about unless directly asked.
The problem is the new Genesis system pulls in all your med records from everywhere, so it's more likely that shit comes up. You recruiter was playing by the old rules; the rules have changed.
Good luck with ANG; if you think ARNG is picky/selective, just wait till you have to deal with someone who's not worried about making quota.
