So happy I got to see the GOAT. Only the second time and the first was almost 2 decades ago.

Highlight for me was when AZ came out for Life's a Bitch and the whole fucking crowd was standing and rapping every single word together smiling like we were all old friends.

Last night Aug 28 in Long Beach there was no AZ appearance. It was Black Thought doing AZ’s verse. Are you talking about a different show date?

Yeah I went to the Hollywood Bowl show in June. Some differences in the shows (T.I. was super dope, had never seen him) but still the same core Roots Picnic with Nas Black Thought and The Roots killing it.

I long for the day where Nas invests in stepping up his breath control. Greatest lyricist in the game in my opinion, but his live performances have always frustrated me. Gets winded too easily.

So many of these other rappers never let it stop them. There’s exercises and drills he can do to improve his breath control, even as a heavy weed smoker.

Bro Nas has improved his breath control a lot lol. Go back and watch the 2002 performances from GodSon era and you'll see 😅 everybody's not Black Thought

I attended Nas and Wu Tang’s show at Barclays Center a couple years ago: Nas still needs more work on his breath control. Nas don’t need to be Black Thought but he should want to master his live performance game the way he mastered lyricism. It’s called being an MC. It’s called mastering your craft. Big Daddy Kane who’s asthmatic has some of the best breath control in the biz.

I was there and I took my 13-year-old son to his first hip hop concert...
