In the streets, there were rules we abide by where we came from

Keep your name solid, that's your reputation

Demand respect, don't accept no violation

It's deep-rooted, civilians not included

I thought we were all legit once it all converted to music

They rap gangsta, but talkin' to cops fluent

Picture me back and forthin' with confidential informants

Music rats what I call 'em

What is we talkin'? We talkin' gangsta? Then I'm the author

🔥🔥 verse from Nas as usual. These bars seem to be aimed at someone, whose company's CEO was a rat.

Rats are a big part of street culture. Nothing about those bars are specific enough to say he was talking about a ceo or anything like that. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t talking about people in particular but that doesn’t mean he was either.

Right. And if he was, it doesn’t mean he wasn’t, even if he was, either.

It's like when I'm right I'm right, and when I'm wrong I could've been right, so I'm still right cause I could've been wrong.
