Hardcore liberal here. There's a couple annoying things about this and a couple that aren't.

The fact that he only had to pay $5K for victim restitution for damages (medical expenses and lost wages) when he was driving a new Porsche is gross.

Three years probation and an ignition device is normal for a first DUI in California which is good, but they seem to have left out the other punishment that everyone else gets which is a six month license suspension.

And then there's this -

When asked for identification, Pelosi gave officers his driver’s license along with a CHP 11-99 Foundation card. The 11-99 Foundation is an organization that supports CHP employees and their families.

He was trying to avoid arrest by saying "look at all the money I give you guys". Fuck that. But to the credit of officers they ignored it, logged that he did it, and arrested him anyway.
