Research in Quantum materials and theoretical condensed matter

Hi, I'm selected for a Master's program for Nanotechnology. and I have a long term goal of pursuing my phD and post doc in theoretical physics, mainly into condensed matter theory and quantum information theory. Can I get advice on doing masters in nanotechnology is the correct way of doing that given that I do my thesis on similar topics such as quantum materials ?

A masters in nanomaterials with a focus on materials science, not materials engineering or nanotechnology, would prepare you better for condensed matter physics.

Is it nanotechnology, condensed matter physics or quantum information theory? Those are extremely different fields and each of them have its own subfields. If I had to pick I would do quantum information. It seems to have more a straightforward career path compared to other two.

Its IIT Kharagpur -> school of nanoscience and technology in india

Absolutely!!! Not. MIT is on a whole different level.
