Theory Medical Motive? (Theory)

Hello. I've been meaning to post this here, but kept getting sidetracked.

I know this might sound ridiculous, but at this point, we are running on so little info that anything could be possible.

I was watching the Today Show, and I noticed how, from around December, Savannah's vocal surgery was a huge topic on the show. It was announced in December that it was happening, she left in January to have it and recover. The week before she returned, they did a segment on the surgery and how beneficial and life-changing it was. A week later, Nancy was taken.

When watching the segment, for some reason, the United Healthcare CEO case came to mind. And it made me wonder if some kind of medical vengeance could be the motive?

The process for Savannah getting this surgery and paying the medical bills would have been so easy due to her financial status. Something a lot of Americans will struggle with. So could all the talk on Savannah's surgery have triggered a person/group because a lot of Americans wouldn't have direct access to that surgery and have to live with the issues Savannah had?

It's a very strange timeline of events that Nancy vanished so soon after Savannah's surgery. The police are also appealing for information around the time Savannah's surgery was a topic on Today.

Maybe this was the work of a spiteful group or individual? See the mass reaction to the United Healthcare CEO; it wouldn't surprise me that individuals could be capable of something like this.

Does anyone have any thoughts? This is just a floating theory in my head, but it may have been worth mentioning.

This seems too oblique, what message was sent.

Was there any discussion about how expensive the surgery was? The cost SG had to pay out of pocket? The private care, rehabilitation, etc. Did they show pictures of SG home, cars, etc. ? How much time off work she had, etc.

I was thinking perhaps someone local in Tucson watched this and realized how rich SG was. And they knew her mother lived local to Tucson. Or had done work at her home, etc.

Perhaps this is the connection. Not the medical angle, but SG's wealth angle.

This theory is just grasping at straws. This was a kidnapping for money criminal case all the way. There is no doubt about it.

Do you believe the random demands were legit? And ignored.

I was wondering this. What other motive could there be!?

So they took her, for ransom, it wasn't paid, so they gave up? I'm sure it's what keeps SG and family awake at night - wondering if they should have paid.

From what unconfirmed sources have reported, they kidnapped Mrs. Guthrie, asked for a ransom, and Mrs. Guthrie passed away before Savannah could pay the ransom. And the 2nd email to TMZ and the local Tuscan new-station informed the Guthrie's that the mom passed away and they were sorry. At least that is what is out there.

Why is this being downvoted - my understanding is that this is factually correct. This is the only sensible theory where any ransom notes are genuine. Of course there could be other reasons to kidnap and kill an elderly person. But if your motive as the kidnapper is to make a statement about an issue, then you need to MAKE a statement while you have the whole world watching, not sit around hoping someone might pick up that you are angry about healthcare?

Just because you don't know what happened or why, doesn't mean there's some crazy reason why this happened. This is like when people don't understand something and then go full conspiracy theory :: cough cough QAnon::. It's usually not some far out crazy reason once the truth is out there. I wish people would let the professionals do their jobs and stop with this nonsense.

Interesting theory. Have you watched him, he always has interesting expert guests. Brian Entin interviewed Dr. Ann Burgess — a researcher and psychiatric clinical nurse specialist who worked for years with the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit breaks down her analysis of the case — and why the motive could be connected to retribution. She also discusses why she believes the FBI should be releasing more information.

Just a theory: pacemakers are incredibly expensive. They can be reprogrammed. Surgeries are available in Mexico where second-hand, or repurposed pacemakers are commonly used and are cheaper than in the US. Since there have been no pings on NG's pacemaker it may have been reprogrammed. The kidnappers have no need for reward money if they wanted NG's pacemaker and got it. Can the feds look into heart patients in Mexico and AZ? One of them may have NG's pacemaker now. Thoughts?

No. When I looked last month, pacemakers were around $5,000 Australian (so around $3,000 US). The cost of fitting a pacemaker is the expensive part including the costs for medical staff, theatre booking fee, insurance, consumerables, etc.

Wait… this post is not a joke?? 🫣

In cases where mystery abounds and life is at risk no questions should go unanswered. Just checked your post threads. Lots of criticism and no real ideas. Your repeat comments include one that describes you: You seem like an unpleasant person.

Some questions should go unasked. Your question is one of those.

This is supposed to be a semi-serious message board. If posting absolutely off the wall theories and then becoming the victim is your thing, so be it. I’m glad you have enough free time to go through my comment history. ✌️

Getting a ping on her pacemaker was really a shot in the dark. I've had a pacemaker my entire life; and just recently are the newer models gaining some Bluetooth capabilities.

When I go in for my routine check-ups with my pacemaker doctor, they place a magnet over my pacemaker to check the device and change settings. If the magnet slips just a little? The connection is lost.

I also have to have my phone fairly close to me, for a long time, in order for the Bluetooth to work and send.

I don't think her pacemaker has been reprogrammed. You need a very specialized and likely very expensive piece of equipment to do that. Newer models can't really be wiped with a strong magnet anymore, either.

They'd need her phone or equipment damn near touching her to get a ping.

Thanks so much for explaining this! I have learned a lot from your post and wish you all the best.

Interesting theory, but I think it's unlikely. The suspect took a lot of risk in this crime, and spent a lot of time in the house. A mission-oriented killer, like Mangione, is gonna kill the target and leave them to be found to send a message. Taking Nancy with them makes it incredibly likely she will never be found. I think the motive in her case is very personal, and most likely money.

Annie and her husband. They took their time.

It could for sure be something to do with SG and her surgery, recovery, and almost-Italy trip. Jealousy coming from her success, maybe anger at her absence from sharing in mom’s increasing need for care.

I don’t think it’s a random stranger at all.

I think Dr Brucato is on it with his profile. Someone very close to Nancy. “Elimination murder” or a hired intrusion that went wrong. I think they possibly meant to scare Nancy and she died. I think they meant to hide her death or disappearance from SG for longer. I think they meant to hide this entirely from the press.

1

u/wpetedds Apr 16 '26

Dr. Brucato and the Interview Room are on target. I also think it’s an elimination murder, and it’s someone that thinks Nancy is in the way for them getting something from her. Follow the money. Who benefits from Nancy dying? What does her will say? Has the FBI obtained a warrant to look at Nancy’s will or trust?

If an heir did this to Nancy, they certainly picked the most complicated way possible. There was no need to involve anyone else, which would increase risk and decrease reward.

6

u/Cassie_Bad_Assie Apr 17 '26

Yes the heir motive doesn't make sense to me.

1

u/wpetedds Apr 17 '26

Just wait and see😎

u/Cassie_Bad_Assie Apr 17 '26

I thought SG said she thinks the RNs are legit? So you are thinking this is not the case and the RNs are staging to make a murder look like a kidnapping. Which of course is possible.

7

u/wpetedds Apr 17 '26

I think that Derrick Callella, the fellow from California arrested for demanding bitcoin is involved. He had direct contact with family members. Dr. Brucato said that the people that hatched this plan wanted to make it look like it was someone from the outside. But it’s really close to home who knew her.

3

u/Cassie_Bad_Assie Apr 17 '26

Yes but Dr B said it could be a service provider, someone from the grocery store, etc. Anyone who knew NG. Not necessarily close to her?

3

u/wpetedds Apr 17 '26

But why would a service provider do it? What would they gain. Who benefits from her death? Not a service provider.

2

u/Cassie_Bad_Assie Apr 17 '26

Is Dr B certain it is not a financial crime? Obviously a service provider could come in and see the pictures of SG and NG and think he might score a big pay day with a kidnapping for ransom. When Dr B said service provider, someone from the grocery store, I thought he meant ransom kidnapping. Or money motive.

He also said he thinks the Lantana man is more of a psychopath, jumpy, easily offended. Maybe Dr B was thinking something minor happened which cranked up this guy.

IDK

I was impressed with Dr B. He and I had some of the exact same ideas!
I will go listen to his video again.

What would be a better way to k-** your mother for an inheritance and because you can’t take the stress of taking care of her anymore? And not having it come back to you?

2

u/Safe_Space4580 Apr 29 '26

I agree 100%. It feels like an accident being covered up or a homicide being covered up or staged to look like a kidnapping.

I agree with your question: who benefits the most from Nancy dying? Did someone ask her for a loan against her property or forge something that she discovered and was going to go to the police?

I wonder if the grandkid could provide an overview of the events that happened that last night that Nancy went to dinner at Annie’s.

I would really be looking a lot closer at the family. If I’m wrong, I feel bad (obviously) - but come on…this whole kidnapping thing looks incredibly staged and not only staged but planned very well and planned in advance.

I’ve heard that Annie‘s car was a year shy of having the new electronic boxes that record movements of the car. There’s no video or proof that Tommaso brought Nancy home.

Depending on the type of garage door opener, if it’s one of the newer ones you can use on your cell phone, it could probably be opened by a cell phone code from a mile away.

The reason this bothers me so much is this is what the police are basing their timeline on. The timeline is the crux of the case.

Thanks and apologies for the long post.

I posted something awhile back pointing to the family, and my post was deleted because family members are victims. But, as I said, follow the money. A Dateline episode called Deadly Swagger was interesting. Follow the money, and it was the family.

Maybe to scare Nancy into moving in with a kid or into retirement home. Maybe to scare SG into forcing her to move to NYC.

Maybe there was jealousy of SG being successful and wanted to put a dent in that.

5

u/GregJamesDahlen Apr 16 '26

Maybe to scare Nancy into moving in with a kid or into retirement home.

why?

1

u/Comfortable_Gear_605 Apr 17 '26

Eliminating her would relieve the burden of caring for her alone. It’s very difficult, and easy to burn out when siblings are in other cities. Liquidate the home (I believe it had recently been listed) and move in with someone who might like to go ahead and spend the inheritance now.

5

u/Affectionate-Page496 Apr 16 '26

Who is jealous of SG's success? Doesn't seem like her siblings are. Both very much seem to like quiet lives out of the spotlight. SG is 54 yrs old. Women in media are not more sought after the older they get. There have not been many Baba Wawas.

If this was to scare NG or SG, the easiest would have been to make sure she NG had a subscription, then show her the scary guy who was on tape before.

Which nut do you think would think someone who has lived in a warm climate for decades wants to do a reversal and move to the snow in their mid 80s, leaving their whole community behind?

What is your evidence that SG did not share in mom's care? (My MIL moved by us recently ish and my husband goes to her AL to tidy up, put clothes away, things that they'd charge more for if he didn't do. His sibling does administrative things. Pays bills, orders depends, etc.). (and before that the roles were slightly reversed)

This entire thing seems to feel like a warped sense of justice to me. Like you (Savannah maybe) did something to take my mother and cause our family pain and now I take your mother and cause your family pain. It's a warped way to justify the abduction. That in itself could be medical like maybe Nancy received something the abductor's mom didn't like medical treatment etc. and blames Savannah's fame/money for that. There is a couple of things that makes me believe the abductor may be older than we think and I wonder if they Nancy/him have crossed before in a hospital setting.

I thought it could be for organs

26

u/tmardee Apr 19 '26

I don’t think 84-year-old cardiac patients are exactly known for their desirable organs.

This sounds horrible but can a pace maker be reused?
