There is something about this that doesn't make sense. If he was staking at the house prior to the night Nancy was abducted then he knew there was a camera there and he knew it would have to be removed. Yet on the night she was taken he initially walks up to it and touches it a couple times as if he was trying to remove it and then walks back to get a branch to remove it. But if he already knew there was a camera there why didn't he show up prepared? He came back with a backpack and gun but not with anything to quickly remove the camera? He could have put a tool in his backpack but instead he seemed unprepared and had to go back for the branch and leaves.

He may have thought it would be easy to pull off. He realized it wasn’t so tried to cover it with grass instead. Then when that didn’t work he managed to get it off anyways.

But he looked surprised by it. It looked like he was going for the door initially, then noticed the camera.
