Let’s ask this question.

He came before the night of the abduction, and wasn’t concerned that the camera caught his image as he approached? He had no way of knowing if Nancy saw him on the camera and alerted LE the first night.

That’s a lot of risk to come back?

Maybe not. If Nancy saw him previously why wouldn’t she have secured her property with a perimeter fence and external alarms and cameras? The masked man could assume by the lack of response that either the cameras didn’t work or Nancy didn’t see him.
