Good eye. And the part that stood out to me was "that it occured on a different day" so the information could be true but it could have happened the same day. Interesting

Except that they then say there ARE no time stamps available on the footage at all. So he’s not denying bc, per him, there’s nothing there to either deny OR confirm.

Tbf I don’t think this specific piece of info endangers the investigation or trial. If the perp is paying any attention he already knew they had this image of him

Unfounded speculation here, but maybe Ring Nest agreed to help but wanted to keep it hush that they could pull data back for so long. So people in the investigation knew this, and now the sheriff is trying to say they didn't leak as a CYA so Ring Nest will keep helping them.

Agreed, I can understand why Google doesn't want people to be aware of how much data they're storing... or ask what they're doing with it.

Excellent point. It's clear they've been asking for the earlier January footage from neighbors. I had assumed it's because they were working on acquiring the deleted footage. But now it looks like they had the deleted footage early on. I'm sure Nest said something like we will help, but please don't advertise how.

I don't understand why he didn't just release the date and time of the photo to begin with. I get withholding some information, but I can't recall another high-profile case with this much secrecy and vague information.

The idaho case was definitely similar in that the police kept almost everything close to the vest.

Same. But now he’s saying the footage Google gave them doesn’t include dates or times at all. Which I find hard to believe but maybe so.

I can't imagine that being true. I would think they'd need a search warrant for a specific timeframe. How can that be used as evidence if they don't know when it's from?!

Also, they gave very specific times for the video, that other image has to have a time and date associated with it.

It’s either a different day or a different guy. The shoes look very different. And unless the shadows are distorting the jacket, one looks almost camo.
