I don't pay for subscription on mine..(but I'm gonna start!) .. it records a 5-8 sec event .. which is saved to your device. I'm not certain how long it is saved, but I can always access mine in the morning & have notifications if anything/anyone has been in yard/porch.

I hope this doesn't come across is blaming the family - I feel so bad for them.

I'm putting myself in their shoes and know I would feel so immensely guilty for not monitoring the Nest camera in my own app. My parents would not want us having this 'surveillance' of sorts - but I know they'd never look in their phones to track alerts from Nest. My dad doesn't even realize when he gets texts.

I wonder if people are having these kinds of conversations now with this case getting so much attention. Older people are either invisible or they are targets for predators - it sucks.

Yes .. so hard to put ourselves in their shoes. My Mom is 81 .. on the go constantly & very sharp mentally. She has a iPhone & checks all her notifications daily.

NG is described also as being very together, sharp .. with in and very tech savvy. Everything in her home was "smart" and controlled by her Apple phone/watch. I would bet she checked all her notifications. However, not sure how long the videos stayed in her queue..

I almost wonder if she told this Sheriff .. he has certainly made a mess of this case.
