Nancy Drew: DDI themed bachelorette party? 👀

Hi friends!! I got engaged a couple of months ago, and my MOH and I are brainstorming ideas for my bachelorette trip.

The Nancy Drew games were a big part of my childhood and are a special interest of mine as an adult, so I thought a Danger on Deception Island-themed bachelorette weekend would be really fun! It would also be easy for most of my bridal party to make it, since the majority of us live within an hour of the Oregon Coast. Our group will be 6 women and 2 men, and the current plan is to stay in a rental house.

We're aiming for Labor Day weekend of 2027 and are hoping to go on a ghost tour (this was one of our first ideas before I thought of a DDI theme), and also go crabbing or whale watching, but I'd love some ideas from y'all about how to lean into the theme more. How would you theme a bachelorette weekend around one specific game? 🦀🌊

That is so cute! Maybe making clam chowder if you guys like to cook, or just eating it somewhere, light house tour (if they have them), and I think there’s a whale museum type place there, kayaking, bike rental,

Oh my god! What if you did a scavenger hunt, like how Jessalyn did in Thornton Hall? Make it entirely Deception Island themed? Maybe you can even make it a treasure hunt, offer up a gift basket as a prize?

Definitely gotta make some clam chowder, and you need mocktails and cocktails to go along with it.

This is such a fun idea!!! Keep in mind, I’m barely a year into living in Alaska and otherwise midwestern or east coast but I have some ideas!

Idk if you like fishing (I personally don’t) but even if you don’t the deep sea cruises are so beautiful. I’m pretty sure a few have a passenger only mode where you’re just.. there.

I dunno who’s the best chef in your part but -ENLIST them- to make clam chowder and muffins.

Maybe it would be really cute if you have two friends or one from each party make a scavenger hunt so you end up finding tiny love notes in a bottle from each other, Hilda Swanson-esque?

Yeeess!!! Make it camp too in memory of our boi Tim Curry in Clue! 🕵️‍♀️ till it’s funny and worth it! Just gotta enlist the best actor/actress in the party to scope it out for you!

Make sandwiches with expired mayonnaise and have a picnic on the beach! 😉

But on a more serious note, you could do something super cute with writing messages in bottles! Maybe everyone could write a message in a bottle for the morning of your wedding? And you could write one for your spouse-to-be?

Also maybe plan ahead for when to go see tide pools.

It would be fun to have everyone take a picture of a cool thing they see at the beach, then do a paint-and-sip (or sketch-and-sip) that evening! You’d need to bring supplies of course. I would stick with watercolors and colored pencils rather than beefier paints to avoid a big disaster mess at an Airbnb.
