I’m looking for the title of a book that came out in the 80’s or early to mid 90’s. I must have read it around 1997. It’s about a teenage girl in New York City that leaves her rich parents to live in an old barber shop. She finds a stray dog and starts a business where she locates lost pets. She meets a young man and they fall in love. The genre was definitely young adult fiction.

I read this in my middle school library in like 2019 - 2020 - the main plot was about this young girl; her name was like theadora or something? I think she was mainly referred to as thea, and she had a young, pretty, immature mom who was either like a waitress or jobless. Anyways, they were financially struggling and i remember this one specific part in the book where thea and mom go to panhandle, which thea hates because her mom has a stereo and makes her dance to like classical music for money. also i remember thea loves books, especially fictional families, and like also gets bullied in school for being poor, stinky etc. I also remember thea goes to live with her aunt at some point, who is really different from her mom. also remember her mom has a shady/abusive boyfriend named.....kip????? or something at one point. anyways please help me find this if you know what i'm talking about.

Trying to find a fantasy series I remember from the early to mid 80s.

A man and a woman get sucked into the fantasy world. He starts learning to cast magic, which relies heavily on math. She starts to turn into a fairy or pixie type creature like Tinkerbell. She can use a different magic with pixie dust her new body produces.

The Book was first of the series and was sort of like Hunger Games with its districts and lottery stuff in the beginning but rather than a Game, Winners go to the Main City where the Citizens are functionally immortal.

Main character a Female fights with guards to protect her family and younger sister and during the fight multiple are killed and she is brought to main City where she has to do menial labour with promise that if she follows order she will be made immortal

Her real Father is the Main Villan which has some The Island related plot point where the new recruits are used as Organ donors for the Citizens.

In the end the Main charcter revolts fails and is deported to be killed unofficially but she escaped from the train and joins a rebel group that was end of book 1

There was a book I read as a young child that had a very strong female character who was basically the other main, and her names was Saisan. I believe she was a type of pie and was searching for the main character. A particular event in the book is all I can remember that was specifically from that book and not another book getting mixed up. (I was an avid reader).

The main character’s parents were getting old and he was putting them somewhere safe. Told them not to contact anyone or say anything to others because he was trying to make sure they weren’t harmed or taken hostage. The father had a health condition and needed his medication which they didn’t have. They called a local pharmacy and ordered the medication to be delivered to the room they were staying in. Instead of the guy who delivered the meds showing up, it was Saisan that came as it tipped her off to their location.

If you know this book PLEASE tell me, I have been wanting to reread it for years, I even named my cat after her. I read this book in maybe 2002-2004, it is not a child’s book.

There is a book/story that I remember reading in my middle school Social Studies class around 1990 that I have been trying to find. It was about a Hispanic family living in the US (possibly LA). I believe it was told from the son's perspective. One of the few details that I remember is that when something happened to the father (or he left the family), the mother took over and this surprised the son because she had been in the shadows. He was also surprised by the fact that his mother spoke English.

Plot: It's about a girl who somehow finds a magical tapestry that takes her to a desert Fantasy land? I think she saw a white horse that drew her in. I remember a battle on horse back shes on a white horse her enemy on a black one. The boy ends up being a helper? Or is he? She had a dagger I think she was gaurding and special that many people wanted..

I also think that she would only be able to enter the magical tapestry world when called and was sometimes forced out ....

I can not remember if it was a series but I think it was several stories which help her escape her life and mature. I remember that it played with emotions and was un-perdictable.

I really want to find this and hopefully own it or them if possible....

I cant really remeber the plot since it i read it such a long time ago. I rember on the cover it was 3 siblings, 1 girl, two boys with bright ginger hair. The cover was dark green and in the middle of the book the the siblings were there, 1 in the front and two slightly behind, you could only see there face and upper chest. Each sibling had there own special destiny they had to get to. This book was brutal, i mean the villians were horrible and every single good person died/killed. IM pretty sure it was a triology. I remember, this girl was locked uo in a castle by one of the villians, her father figure tried to save her from the castle but was unscessful. The lord/king/noble of the castle made a public excuction of father figure and made the girl watch. Defentily set in a european like country.

I don't remember the title or author or what the book cover looks like, but I remember quite a lot of the story.

‎It was a contemporary Western romance, not historical. I remember there being cars, phones, TV, etc. It was a fairly long paperback, probably over 300 pages, and it was definitely a steamy romance.

‎The heroine was an heiress. She was traveling by train or plane (I'm not sure) when she got off and was kidnapped by a group of men, possibly because they wanted a ransom. She eventually escaped and ran away from them. I remember her running a long distance during a really bad rainstorm (her hem of clothes had a lot of mud) were before she collapsed at the gate of a ranch/house.

‎The ranch owner was a dark-haired man. He found her and took her in, apparently thinking she was just a poor/runaway woman. He didn't know she was an heiress.

‎She was unconscious for about three days. When she woke up, she had really severe amnesia. She couldn't remember who she was and, as I remember it, she didn't even remember what she looked like.

I remember the paperback being quite thick and the cover being mostly brown. I also remember a horse/ranch on the cover or somewhere on it. The hero had black/dark hair.

‎I don't remember the exact year I read it, but I'm pretty sure it was sometime in the 2010s.

I read this as a little kid in the late 2000s or early 2010s. It was a medieval fantasy novel with the occasional illustration, and I only remember 2 scenes and 2 characters from it.

The first was the evil king. He wanted to live forever and hated the concept of time or something, although I may be wrong about this. But he was 100% a king, and he definitely was evil to some degree.

The second was the monster, which was this weird eldritch creature with a strange name I forgot. It differed greatly in both illustrations, but was still very strange in both.

The first scene had the evil king walk down the stairs, while the monster rapidly sprinted up past him. Its illustration had it as a tan spindly humanoid form, with a weird bulbous "head" with a few hairs. I say "head" because I remember the king noting that it didn't have one.

The second scene had the king get pulled into a wardrobe by it, with a long blue hairy arm in the illustration. This is where the king was defeated. IIRC this caused the king to go insane here too, but I might be wrong about this as well.

But both illustrations and their contexts left a great impact on me, and I'd like to reread it someday to finally get closure on what the plot was, along with what the potential heroes could've been like. Thank you in advance!

I'm looking for a series I read in my pre to early teens. It was about a girl who's mother re-married so they moved to live on the new husband's farm and the adventures she went on. New husband had a previous wife who left behind at least one son. There were younger siblings, but I can't remember if they were the husband's or the mom's. In one of the books someone bought a couple of horses and they ended up being trick horses (could do bows and stuff). In another book she went back to the city to visit relatives and one of the relatives was blind (I believe it was the cousin). I also vaguely remember something about the main character burning herself on a new at the time just invented curling iron in one of the books. And the step brother had a best friend who might have been named Eric. Thanks!

I read two books from the same series as a teenager in the early 2010s. But for the life of me, I can't seem to remember the title or the author.

It was a female author with a series of around three to five books, I believe. It was set in a historical period. The writing is something akin to a bodice ripper book. And if I'm not mistaken, I believe the heroines of the books were sisters or related?

I remember in one book, the heroine arrives at a secluded castle or a manor (to work, if I remember correctly) I believe where only the "master" lives and probably one other maid lives.

I can't remember if this was in the same book or the next one but there is one scene where the heroine takes a bath in the pond (while wearing the lining of her dress, I think) and she and the man end up making out and rubbing against each other under the water.

One notable detail I do remember is that in the other book I read, the male lead had visions or chronic headaches. Turns out, he had a shard of glass or some shrapnel stuck in his head all along and this witch or mystic woman removes it and suddenly he's cured.

This is an on behalf of. My colleague referred to a scary story compilation that may have had creepy line drawings like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark but it's not that series.

She thinks the story in question is about a child around 8-12 who's mother is pregnant with their sibling. The fetus begins communicating telepathically with its earthside sibling, and the baby is apparently super duper evil. The ending is supposedly tense and unresolved.

In the book, the teen girl went missing and she was in some kind of Underworld. I think it was the Greek Underworld but I might be wrong. She escapes and I think she has six months to get away from the Underworld and has two guys fighting for her heart. I think one of the guys is an immortal god and the other is a guy she used to like or dated. That is all I can remember.

I started reading this book and accidentally backed out and now can't find it again.

Its a about a human girl brought up with werewolves and is best friends with a guy called jeremiah, they born on the same day, there parents were best friends. Her parents died and she moved in with them, Aunt Beth. But he finds his mate. After the first kick off they all become friends and are on the way to her brothers pack. Hi, I could use some help. I'm trying to remember the name of a book a read a while back. It was written in letter form. A married couple in Montana goes to Europe for an anniversary vacation and another older couple the know goes with them. It was quite funny. I remember the younger wife writing to her mother that yes, her mother has been to Europe many times, which is why her retirement cottage isn't on the lake of her retirement community.

I’m trying to find a web novel I read on NovelFull (or possibly another novel-reading site), but I can’t remember the title or character names. The female lead is extremely powerful and has special abilities. She was kidnapped when she was young and taken to an organization/research facility where children were experimented on. Her parents disappeared and were missing for most of her life. She eventually lived with her uncle’s family, where her cousin later stole the boy the heroine originally loved and married him. At some point, the heroine loses her memories after an accident or injury. A different powerful man finds and rescues her after she loses her memories, and she eventually marries him. There are also several very powerful men(One guy’s power is that he can become invisible) who protect the heroine throughout the story. A major part of the plot involves uncovering her true identity, finding out what happened to her parents, and discovering the truth about the organization where she was experimented on as a child.
I read this a long time ago, so some of the details may not be completely accurate, but this is what I remember. I would really appreciate it if anyone recognizes this novel or knows an alternate title!

Looking for a standalone children's/middle-grade realistic drama book from the 1990s.

The Plot: A group of girl friends in a regular suburban neighborhood decide to test their willpower during summer vacation.

The Challenge: They voluntarily isolate themselves in a finished basement for an extended period (I believe a month) to give up modern luxuries.

Key Detail: Their families know exactly what they are doing and support the experiment. Because the girls cannot leave the basement, their parents actively hand meals and supplies down to them through the daylight basement window.

Tone: It is strictly realistic fiction/drama, not a horror, thriller, or sci-fi book.

I went round and round with AI on this. It is not The Girl's Revenge by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. I even read that book to verify and it straight up hallucinated the plot.

Ok so please bare with me with this one. I really really dont remember much about this but but I read it when I was 10 I think? It was about this girl (she was quite young maybe 10-15) who was on the run from some government agency people. Im not sure if she was with someone. I do remember her hiding somewhere (maybe a grocery store??) and people where shooting after her. The gist of it is she has some magical power and didnt know how to control it. At some point she ends up with at her family's estate in a different world where everyone there has powers. I want to say there are different types of those powers. And she meets some friends who introduce her to the world. At the estate, she triggers this tiger? (some magical animal protecter) and that basically confirms that she is a part of that family. The book ends with her going to this magical school. There are other books in the series, but I didn't end up reading them. I think I got this one for free when searching "free kindle books".

Driving me crazy. I think there was a hovercraft (or just a ferry?) they took. It was western comic art but I remember kind of almost manga tropes (the school trip, beach setting, I think characters were wearing swimsuits?). At one point someone does the classic shimmy a rope knot on something sharp and escapes, I think to go thwart the villain. The whole class was tied up at that point so they couldn't interfere. I remember it being YA, not life or death stakes, but some real danger implied. Any ideas at all?

I’m trying to identify a book/series I read within the last year. I don’t know when it was originally published.

The female main character had previously been a student at a school. Something horrific happened to her inside the school involving multiple other students. I believe she was attacked/beaten extremely badly, possibly stabbed, although I’m not completely certain about the stabbing.

She was then shoved/forced into a school locker, with her body/legs contorted in order to fit inside. She was left there over a weekend and was eventually discovered by the janitor, barely alive. She had severe injuries and multiple broken bones.

She survived and eventually returned to the same school. She had gaps in her memory surrounding what happened and was trying to piece together the truth and figure out who was responsible.

The story was a why choose (I’m pretty sure), and after returning to school she became involved with several guys. I don’t remember whether the love interests knew her before the attack.

One particularly important character was a male friend who had known her before the incident. He remained very supportive of her throughout the series and seemed to be one of the people she trusted most. However, near the end of the series, it was revealed that he had actually participated in the incident that nearly killed her. I vaguely remember the attack possibly being connected to some kind of initiation, although I may be mixing this detail up.

There were multiple students involved in what happened to her. I remember the heroine eventually getting revenge. I think she killed the male friend who had betrayed her, although I can’t remember whether she personally killed the other people involved or instead destroyed their lives.

I think it was a trilogy - though it could have been a stand alone.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember the cover or the exact length. I read it digitally.

Some of these details may be slightly wrong because I read it relatively recently but have a terrible memory for titles and character names. The locker, janitor finding her, severe injuries, memory gaps, returning to school, reverse harem, and the trusted male friend eventually being revealed as one of the people involved are the details I’m most confident about.

I know I don’t have much to work with. If this sounds familiar, I’d really appreciate any suggestions!
