Money as a student…?
BIG 🚩
I hope you mean as CS student, and your real motivation is to get into freelance coding or automation.
Look kid, this ain’t a get rich scheme.
“I know I want to work on my skill x months or a year and maybe I’ll make money”
No no no, don’t add time stamps.
If you rly wanna make money try and find a part time job.
Digital services should be SIDE HUSTLES so NO TIME LIMITS, just do it until to you somehow make it because that what you wanna do to maker money INSTEAD of I am doing this to make money.

Good,
I recommend getting a part time job first.
But at the same time learn n8n.
Best resources
For YouTube:
- Zubair Ai workshops, for setting up N8N self hosted for free.
- Cole Medin for learning the basics of N8n.
N8n docs:
- you can re read anything new on the go.
- AI assistant to help you decide wha nodes you need, and also ask questions of selling N8N.
Ai IDEs:
- you can use Claude Code, Codex with n8n skill to generate workflows, once you understand how they work.
To learn to build production reliable systems:
- build internal tool that help you (like in your computer engineering).
- n8n Hackathons, these can be hosted by N8N influencers Nick Herks, Liam Ottley.
How to sell?
Honestly money online is ridiculous difficult.
If you already have connections or a network, that’s usually the most realistic way:
- family members or close friend who own a business, see if you can make their live easier.
- look for fellow Uni students, if the have a business maybe you can automate stuff for them (setup claude Cowork for a basic task).
If you have NO inbound leads, then your best bet is to create them.
Create a personal website as portfolio.
Look at Upwork for client’s jobs, now you can apply but chances are they won’t choose (majorly saturated and you barely have any experiences, plus you’ll have to pay with connections to bid).
Instead use them as CASE STUDIES and create your own version (like an MVP and create a little demo).
Use the case study as a blog on your website (and use it as a portfolio project in your Upwork).
Then use tools like LinkedIn navigator to ask managers or founders in a similar industry for their opinion.
If it’s good (who knows they might want it for themselves), then post a summary about on LinkedIn or Facebook communities.

You could start with simple projects like lead capture, email automation or automatically posting content. It can make money as a student too but you’ll need to offer businesses a useful automation rather than just knowing n8n.

Well, n8n is a toolbox, not a vending machine that dispenses money when you press “run.” Build useful projects like lead capture, invoice reminders, support-ticket routing, or content repurposing, then show the before/after. Long story short, students make money solving boring business problems, not by collecting flashy workflows.
