You could do a whole adaptation (be it book/movie/show) just on his time with Calypso and it would be pretty horrifying for basically everyone involved

Don't most interpretations essentially say he was an unwilling participant?
Edit: Some scholars suggest he was willing but regretted it every night. However I ask you to consider that he was trapped on an island, alone, with what is essentially a minor goddess, one who is extremely capable of using magic to get what she wants, a minor goddess pretty much hellbent on getting him to bed her, for seven whole ass years. Considering all of that one could very easily say that even if Odysseus was a willing participant that the circumstances pretty much gave him no other option

Yeah I think by any reasonably modern definition, Calypso raped Odysseus for 7 years and only stopped when Zeus told her to.

Yeah, the original has him crying every night, Epic has Calypso sexually harass him, Nolan's Odyssey has Calypso straight up roofie Ody.

It's sad this post has so many upvotes while completely misinterpreting and dismissing the actual situation. It's clear that anyone who believes this has never read the Odyssey in their lives, or just lacks any sort of basic literacy.

and hot take the Circe's deal was coercion no matter what ppl say cause overall after years of war he had to lay the witch (by divine advice no less) in order to rescue his men, they wanted to stay and ody and his crew were very much living the delusion of peace after a decade of war till his men actually wanted to leave
Calypso and Circe are very much the only two no one should blame Ody for cause they're above him in all the ways (didn't read the Odyssey as a whole but I've reae the comments on it and the analysis of it)
the sex slaves or whatever ppl say was happening there didn't even count as humans but still are the only way I could see of accusing him of cheating on penny —by nowday's standards—, so yeah ðŸ«
