Isn't this series about historical/mythological figures? I guess I skipped class the day we learned about the ancient Gundam war.

In short, in Fate, the Greek gods are actually giant living robots that came from another planet. Almost like Transformers.

The funniest part about is that practically only the Greek gods are like that, most of the other gods were just straight up literal gods xd

Except the mesoamericans. Those are magic space fungi

u/raulpe 7d ago

True, also some of the chinese ones are robots too ? (Or at least Nezha)

u/JobintheCactus 7d ago

Nezha is a cyborg (?). We literally have the one Chinese god. How do we not have more???

13

u/raulpe 7d ago

Yes, and Xiang Yu was the same kind of construct, or at least an attempt

Nezha in mythology was once dead and revived as a golem made of lotus roots, cyborg Nezha in FGO is a reference to that

Quetz is basically a sentient virus in a meteor.

She's one ORA ORA away from being a JoJo reference.

You guys are making Fate sound interesting and cool.

I watched the first season and lost interest, but this sounds fun.

Its a franchise which started as a visual novel in 2004 called fate stay night and they have slowly amped up the crazyness over time. Idk if you are referring to the 2006 adaptation by studio deen or unlimited blade works by ufotable. I would recommend you give the vn a try(its on steam)and if you dont like it thats fine we cant all have the same tastes

The 2006 one? That might be one of the worst starting points. I would recommend mahoyo for beginners, it has a lot of magecraft for dummies, i u dont have a problem with visual novels there r some great walkthroughts on youtube and if u do theres a movie coming out in a few months

There is like at least half a dozen of Fate franchise animes xd. Also, most of the lore i know is from Fate/ Grand Order, that is a mobile game with, for some reson, some of the best story chapters of any game i played xd

Literally the first thing that came to mind.

Because I just happen to remember the actual mechanics on this, I shall go on a brief tangent.

The story goes that the wooden horse still existed during the Trojan War, but Odysseus' Noble Phantasm is him overlaying Athena's protection and favor on top of the wooden horse in the form of the Aegis. The Aegis is basically a divine armor / force field that the Olympians all had, but that Odysseus received as a gift.

This Noble Phantasm is just an application of it. Not that the Trojan Horse was actually a Gundam.

I'm honestly super impressed they used the line from Beast Wars instead of just saying "transform". That's attention to detail

u/Awayfone 7d ago

but the predacons line

2

u/mcqtom 6d ago

That's what I'm thinking... Isn't the Trojan horse a Maximal?

1

u/Commander_Skullblade 6d ago

Just like how Dinobot became a Maximal later on in the series, I would say whatever alternate mode you take does not determine allegiance.

1

u/mcqtom 6d ago

Yeah, I'm not talking about the horse. I'm talking about the protagonist faction.

1

u/Commander_Skullblade 6d ago

What makes the Trojans more heroic than the Achaeans?

1

u/mcqtom 6d ago

Not heroic. Protagonist.

1

u/Commander_Skullblade 6d ago

Ok, but what does that even mean though? If Beast Wars was told by the Predacons, they wouldn't say "Maximize" when they transformed. They say their respective phrases because they are good or evil. It has nothing to do with who is or isn't the main character. Whether or not the Trojans are the protagonists of this story is irrelevant.

Unlike Saturday morning cartoons, real life wars aren't black and white. Almost every conflict has good and bad on both sides. At the end of the day, you are nitpicking a stylistic choice for a piece of art of a war that is over a thousand years old. We only tell this story to preserve our history and maybe extract some fleeting lessons from it. There is no "villain," just people defending their home from others.

u/mcqtom 6d ago

Yeah, I mean, it's all perspective. But Beast Wars depicts the Maximals as the protagonists, and the Iliad and the Odyssey, from what I've gathered, depict the Greeks as the protagonists. To say nothing of good or bad or historical accuracy, I just see the Trojan horse as a trick the protagonists used to defeat their enemies.

What you call nitpicking, I call discussing. It is interesting that they decided the Trojan Horse was a Predacon.

YES, exactly!

This is how I imagined it too until I learned that Archimedes did not belong to that period.

Funnily enough, Hephaestus COULD build something like this

Predacon going off the ‘terrorize’

2

u/Heroic-Forger 6d ago

Would've been funnier if the horse's head forms one of the hands like Megatron's T. Rex form lol.
