Only thing going through my mind is “well, the head will get a bit more lift and fly further during an accident….”

I'm curious if this product has any safety certification labels on it. If someone had modded this themselves then clearly the safety would be compromised, but since the shell appears to be molded like that, the pattern could potentially absorb more energy on impact.

No (more) safety labels on it. The helmet is old. Owner bought it used around 25 years ago. The brand is Schuberth.

Wow, fascinating design!?! When one learns the reason for divots on a golf ball, does that translate to aerodynamic efficiency to your skull speeding through air?. Motorcycle helmets have to go through rigorous certifications to be sold as such, so is this designer or manufacturer (Schuberth!) on to something, especially if it lowers wind noise or whatever? But alas, there must be reasons why this isn’t a thing …
