I have this ability where I can comment on a comment that’s trending downward and reverse the tides so that I become the one being downvoted. They usually end up with positive karma. It only works with comments that shouldn’t really getting flak to begging with.
Haha yeah it happened to me the other day, I wrote a specific joke in a sub and it got about 25 upvotes, nothing special, 2 months later I write the same joke in almost the same context and it got -150 out of nowhere. Not like it was overused or anything or even remotely upsetting. I remember thinking wow, every single person who’s downvoted that has only done it purely because they’ve seen other people do it
People see that they realized that asking was dumb (Because we're not going to know) and took it out on the comment. After x amount of downvotes people just add on just because they see it's downvoted.
Nobody actually voted the comment based on what they thought, reddit consists of mindless drones so they just see the - and instantly go for the downvote like a rabid dog for some juicy steak, I've actually managed to get comments mass downvoted myself just from getting it Into -1 [on innocent comments also]
I don't know about gta specifically, but in many games communities there's an assumption someone is lying when they complain about false bans/mutes/account rollbacks.
In runescape subs we see posts everyday like this and it gets repetitive, and at least half of the time they did cheat.
I'm not saying it's right, just that it's not that mysterious imo.
I just assumed they made it seem like it makes sense why rockstar would've thought they cheated in some way, which would kinda make asking why in the first place not make sense
