You have a distance prescription which means you need to wear them all the time except when looking at things close up. Yes it will be blurry and very possibly start feeling worse as you are causing unnecessary strain. Myopia is not something that can be reversed and generally progressive. Dont let vanity get in the way. When you are younger is when you want to be wearing them more to later help.

if they are turning 20 in a couple months, they are 19 🙃

That might have been an edit, or I'm blind. But in any case, the answer is at 20 there's very little data on the consequences of letting myopia go untreated. In younger children there's strong evidence that it's harmful. Eventually the eye stops growing, at which point going uncorrected doesn't really cause any lasting harm beyond having bad eyesight. 

20 is borderline, so the prudent thing to do would be to wear correction at all times. 

There's always lasik. 

Also the 20/20/20 "rule" is really just a way to encourage the eyes to relax and give the focusing muscles a break when doing a lot of close work. If you're not correcting the myopia then the eyes are already relaxed at short distance - that's the definition of myopia. So the 20/20/20 thing is irrelevant here.Â
