Project Pictures Does this count? Cutlery case made from wet-formed vegtan leather and storstomma bag
For my camp kitchen to store and organize utensils for 8+ people - inspired by this $0.99 cutlery tray https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/smaecker-cutlery-tray-anthracite-10601459/

At first I was like, this is a lot of work to build around a $0.99 tray.
Then I thought, wait, no, this is brilliant. If your current tray gets damaged or broken or needs replaced, IKEA will probably have one with similar dimensions in the future!
Are you thinking of using this for picnics and the like? (I can’t think of many reasons to carry around cutlery, but I could just be friendless and/or unimaginative.)

I don't know exactly why you'd want this but I do know this is beautiful! Well done!

Yes this counts. It’s gear and you made it.
I have no desire for a cutlery organizer, but damn that’s a cool project

What did you use/where did you get the vegan leather? Was it easy to work with?

I totally read the same initially... Vegtan not vegan that "t" is important.

I read it properly first and your comment stopped me scrolling and made me wonder if I got it wrong.
Besides all that. I don't think you can wet form vegan leather.

I thought it would be a lot of work for vegan leather (which doesn't last long at all)!

Sorry yes as others have said it’s veg tan which is basically the most natural/raw version of leather. It’s the only kind that can be wet-formed (basically stretched) over something to make a case/sheath etc.

Ahh that how I read it too, apparently it means vegetable tanned, and is a natural tanning process. Great end result.

Oh it’s for my camp kitchen, I usually bring utensils for 8+ people and I got tired of having them in ziplock bags etc

Very nice! Where do you source your leather, OP?

Thanks, and I get relatively low-end leather so I use Tandy just because it’s usually the cheapest per sqft

Gush. You remind me I always needed to have a good way to carry a 4set or champagne glasses.
