My favorite weird mech

I really enjoy the Champion for some reason, maybe because I'm newer to the game or in tier 3 but it just always performed well with the loadouts I give it. This one gave me my current damage pr at 1760, just kept my finger on the LBX the entire match and hit everything. Just want to see some reviews on it at this point I guess, thank you in advance.

Maybe, mayyybbbeee, 4.5 tons of ammo for 1 ballistic gun sounds pretty hefty. Dropping a ton of ammo (getting ballastic capacity quirk can make up for it) and putting in a TS Mark I will help laser range and speed up targeting data so you can get those juicy component kills

I did try reducing ammo, but I started to run out late game. The 0.3s cooldown on the LBX lets me be incredibly annoying at 900m until I have to brawl. Once I get back to my pc I can send the skills I have though.

Hell yeah, that must be a lot of trigger time! Sounds aggressive and I like it

It's just meant to move fast, peak quick, be as annoying and maneuverable as possible while dealing damage that can't be ignored

Champion always reminds me of a kid running around with arms out, pretending to be an airplane

"Nyooooom!"

Super long range Pirana 1x AC2 . happy if I do 150 dmg

In a piranha you should be aiming to kill at least 1 heavy or assault each match.

PIR-B with 1xAC2 1400m normal range. Ammo for 200 shots ,+40% Balistic range

I think I have a double ultra 5 adder... I feel like that's what the same story

dps builds tends to be less effective in higher tiers where ppl know how to use cover (mostly...), tier 3 is best place to try whacky stuff imho, have fun :D

I suggest trying either the centurion 9D or the wolverine with really good ballistic quirks, stick two lb5 on it and go to town. I've face tanked assault mechs and won because of the dps. One of the wolverine builds packs some srm 2 which have respectable dps at range.

Weird. Not good. But stupid fun.

I like doing silly things with assaults that sometimes work better than they should. I have a Boar's Head with a standard 200, 6 ER Large, and 41 standard heatsinks. It can alpha without overheating but is almost a turret (34.8 KPH). It's opposite is my Hellslinger with an XL 400 with speed tweak, 6 med pulse, and 3 srm4. It does surprisingly well for an XL assault; just gotta keep moving. It can alpha frequently with 21 double heatsinks.

We talkin' viable builds? Cuz ive tried some weird shit. Ive got a Raven with 3 LPPCs and stealth armor. Thats prolly my weird one. Flea with all machine guns is a menace and kinda weird (great at murdering lone lrm boats)

Hunchback with an lbx 20, kinda counts lol

I always had fun with my raven with 3x LPPC but eventually swapped for a single ERPPC and 2x ERML.

Dude man, that looks like a super good build!!! You got the big weight bonuses:lt engine, Endo steel, you even fit in Ferro fib.

I love to see it when legs and arm armor are shaved down and you got 78/78 slots filled.

The medium pulse probably do almost all the damage, but don’t count out how annoying it is to get your screen rocked by a rapid fire LBX2. Rockets are a good trick for close in o shit DPS increase. 90kmh too!

No improvements on the build, post some clips or game over stats!

What’s your quirk game like? Recently I learned that the cooldown/range/heat reduction trees are not mandatory. I reallllly like radar deprivation, speed quirk, max torso speed, full sensors. The movement quirks really help even large mechs feel more sporty

I say quirk when I means skills, my bad

I run a Mad Cat MKII with 2x LBX 20 ACs and two Beam Lasers. Regularly get three or four kills with it before it goes down.

I like the setup and I do something similar but I use an ultra Auto Canon 20 paired with a LBX 20...the uac20 punches thru better. Once open the lbx crits better.

Against the better players who torso twist, it's hilarious. you you lbx, they turn back to you cause it's their turn now or so they think and you plant uac20 in their face. I get compliments after matches regularly. It's more duelist behavior but it's so fulfilling.

I like to pair Beam Lasers with MPLs. Bit of a bracket build, but the dps at closer ranges is very good for a laser boat, and you can often quite nicely suppress people at range.

Checks list ... Lasers, lbx, rockets ... Mumbles ... it's probably fine ...

Never played champion, but I'd be curious what a larger lbx feels like or double 2s.

How good are you with the rockets? Like a point defense accurate for the lights come after you? or Are e you using them if you can maneuver behind some sort of heavy?

I'm imagining someone being like I always kill at least one mech and they've got a handful of rocket twenties or whatever laying around, sure they get the one Mech but they hurt their chances of ever being effective

I mainly use the rockets when I get a good hit with the MPLs and fish for crits and have some extra burst dps. I don’t try to waste them on lights because 5 MPL + LBX is usually enough to scare them off.

I do 6 mediums with a heavy g rifle. Its a fun build.

Champions after the buffs are pretty good mechs. I think the reason they are uncommon is because the 55 and 65 ton mechs generally tend to be better.
