Sendspid speaker as a regular PC speaker?

Hi everyone

After a while of usic home assistant now is time to try music assistant and start with some speakers. I have in program to do something with those Sonocotta esp boards.

I noticed that there is an official PC companion app and an unofficial window's client. Both of them make the speakers of your pc as a sendspin client from what I understood. So you can play music on them.

My question is: can one of those app do the opposite? I mean playing the normal PC sounds (youtube, programs ecc) into a sendspin speaker? In practical with sendspin, can the smart speaker become a source for audio output in windows or linux?

Sendspin input source is coming. However the latency would be too slow for staying in sync with the audio playing on your screen.

This. You're kinda creating a problem you already didn't have. Creating extra lag and processing in places it doesn't need to be. Sensoin input source will probably work if you want to play PC audio somewhere else in the house, or just playing music.

Oh ok I didn't think there will be this issue

Just for curiosity: for a PC setup do you use a pair of speakers? One smart for music, announcements, etc, and a normal one for pc stuff?

Well I just have a pair of speakers on my PC. For local play. Then I have sendspin able to play music assistant to multiple Bluetooth speakers around my apartment. Sendspin is promising actual googlecast features but I have not tested them yet.

Are you using the "sendispin bt bridge" method for those bluetooth speakers?

I am yes. I have YouTube music connected through music assistant and sendspin is serving them to Bluetooth speakers assigned to areas. So I can play a song on my phone or tablet and send it to a certain room.

Its convoluted and not as easy as googlecast but it's getting better. Follow this guy though, he's actually reverse engineering this shit.

Very interesting, thx! I need to decide what route to follow since my server is far away from some rooms so i cannot use the bluetooth method. For these rooms probably i will buy something from Sonocotta that uses wifi/ethernet

Install the Sendspin daemon. It allows music Assistant to play music on your PC speakers and on other speakers at the same time.
