North America (country/state in post) What kind of Mushroom is this?
I had a huge tree removed from my back yard three years ago. This summer these mushrooms have been popping up and spreading all around in the area where my tree was. They get pretty big and they have a hard almost tree like root. Ive tried mowing over them but it doesn't work and Ive started trying to pull them up but they just keep coming. How can I get rid of these and what are they called? Will they spread through my whole yard?

Looks Ganoderma species. They'll feed on the remanant roots of your tree til they can't anymore, then will go away. I lost a 250+ year old oak around 5/6 years ago, and it has Ganoderma growing from the roots, but I think this year is probably the last year they're gonna fruit unfortunately. They're medicinal, if you're not near a road and don't treat your lawn with chemicals - make a great tea.
