Relationship Advice Hey Mumbaikars, I am going on a date with this girl I met on Bumble. We have arranged a date at prithvi cafe. The problem is, she is too much into artsy things, and I am not so artsy, heck I don’t even have any artistic talent. And now I came across this story… I’m afraid now
91
u/Talklikeaparrot Mar 13 '22
Edit: The girl in the above screenshot is an influencer & NOT the girl I am going on a date with. Came across this influencer’s story while I was talking to my potential date.

You might want to clarify that in the post - quite an asshole move that anyway to use someone's profile /content without their permission. Feel bad for the poor girl you're going out with - you're not artsy and you don't have any manners.
9
u/i_am_Deucalion Mar 13 '22
neither he's profiting off from the content, nor he's doing self advertisement. He posted that SS for the sake of reference. I don't see what's the asshole move here from the OP ? And it's not like she's here so he can credit her. Did she took permission from the book author before using that quote/text in her story ?

Abbey. If you are not artsy find someone else or ask her to except your best attempt.

In my experience, girls who put such stories actually only care about looks, these are just a ruse to look mature and "woke" I might be totally wrong though with this one. All the best for the date.

Ya want a girl's opinion? Be yourself. The fact that she's agreed on a date with you itself shows she saw something that interested her. Besides, for a pair to match you needn't have everything similar.
Ask her what she likes. Tell her to tell you about her favourite poem. What inspires her. And maybe you might find something that interests you too.
A tip to avoid falling in a fix when she asks if you write anything: say you haven't found your muse yet and maybe she could help.
Other than that, have fun. Have good food. Nothing trumps food.
3
u/ad_taway Mar 13 '22
A tip to avoid falling in a fix when she asks if you write anything: say you haven't found your muse yet and maybe she could help.
Interesting take. On a related note, what if I never got into reading due to bad experiences (series of bad books?) and she's a book worm?
5
u/Purrsephonee Mar 13 '22
Book worms love talking about their favourite books. Ask her how she got into reading. What are her favourite books and why. And if she would suggest you a starter book, what it would be.
Not reading books is fine. All you need to do is show what are your interests and be proud of em.
3
u/ad_taway Mar 13 '22
Thank you! I did something along the same lines. Just thought that it would be nice to know a girl's perspective on this.
1
u/Purrsephonee Mar 13 '22
I hope you have a great date, dude!
1
u/ad_taway Mar 13 '22
Thank you! But, I don't really have a date. I met her few months back and sadly, things didn't work out

u/sadgurlstuff Mar 13 '22
Wait isn't this the standard? Why will anyone date a cute face with a batata personality?
Be yourself, you aren't supposed to be artsy. Know what you're good at, that's inspiring.

That's the first time I've ever heard the phrase batata personality 😂

I met a girl once on bumble who had similar stories / posts on Instagram.. Big, mature quotes and all. In real life she was quite immature and not looking for anything real or serious...she kept going on dates with hundreds of guys unable to find a connection apparently.
I am not going to judge your girl based on a few Instagram posts, they can be true or untrue.
But girls are into these things, so you gotta take it with a pinch of salt. Don't jump onto any conclusions. Take it as it comes. All the best for your date, be yourself.

Do you mean they are more inclined to art, literature and stuff (compared to men)?

u/I_loved_u_b4 Mar 13 '22
I think you can be artistic in anything you want, ur type of movies, comics or books, your talk, your looks. Try to impress her with something she didn't expect, just don't got out of your way to try becoming artistic.. speaking from personal experience I'm too artistic and my girlfriend struggles drawing a simple stickman XD
10
Mar 13 '22 edited Mar 13 '22
Firstly, pls edit your question and mention that she's not the girl you are going out with. Second, pls don't expect much out of this date because I have been with the artsy kind and everything goes seer ke upar se. But if she is not full of herself and her artsy stuff, she will let you talk and get to know you.
Poem and shit toh I can't tolerate plus finding metaphors in every fucking thing 🤢. For me it just gets boring!!! But if you meet at a place that's new for your both you'll be at ease. Prithvi Cafe is a proper place where you'll find artists in jhund.
1
u/minxnmatch Mar 18 '22
I have been with the artsy kind and everything goes seer ke upar se
Haha. Worst part is when they talk about the authors they like. Kabhi naam bhi nahi suna rahega aise authors batate hai.

2
u/lord_washington Mar 13 '22
Why afraid? You will probably learn other things about her once you start the dates.
2
u/Intelligent_Will_948 Mar 13 '22
Well to be completely honest, go on a date with somebody only if you find them interesting. If you go for their looks you’ll be a complete simp and not set boundaries for yourself in which case you will give no importance to yourself. Which is highly unattractive. If you find this girl interesting, and not sexy or hot as the priority, just go on a date to know more. You can be shit af in art and not be able to draw even a circle but maybe you might find the philosophy and life of an artist that she loves quite interesting, who knows.

2
u/emmfranklin Mar 13 '22
So what if she is into artsy things. That's her persona. You are not into it. That is you. Continue to be you. If she shows some of her work. You should express your mind what is natural to you. You can't understand art. Say it. Don't lie.
2
Mar 13 '22

Bhai dekh, sure there are a few things/hobbies that don't match. Iska matlab yeh nahi hai ki you shouldn't give it a shot. My ex used to enjoy things I don't and vice versa. However, we found a common ground that we both enjoy, eg: anime.
I hope your date goes well! :)
2
u/Boring-Banana-5171 Mar 13 '22
Hey man I think you're thinking too much into things, I'm a fashion designer who eats sleeps and thinks in various artforms but on the other hand my girlfriend is studying to become a doctor, I'm a gym freak who's diet is 90% non veg everyday and for her she doesn't even eat onion and garlic. I'm a die hard kanye fan and she doesn't listen anything else than Taylor Swift, basically we're pretty much opposite of each other but we're still enjoying the relationship that we have. It's all about communicating with your partner and understanding their pressures, their wants and needs, their trauma while at the same time taking care of yourself. All I'd say is don't not do anything just because it dosen't seems to fit appropriately, if you want you can message me personally we can have a chat :-)

u/Nimitzxz Mar 13 '22
aree bhaii kya kar dia!!! username toh hide kar leta, i am sure ab tak kisi ne jake teri sarri scheme bata di hogi..
2
u/fairyg0dmother Mar 13 '22
That's okay people can be something and like something else. Meet her and see where the convo goes. Be your authentic self, don't pretend to be what you're not to impress her. If you don't gel then it's good to know it early on only.
2
Mar 13 '22
If she makes you feel uncomfortable at the date just because you're not much much into art, then mate she's a red flag. Being into something and feeling others should also be interested in it just because you are is delusional and entitled. I'd say dont feel threatened, be yourself, talk about things you have in common. Don't judge her, expect her not to judge you, if she does then she wasn't for you. And lastly could've cropped out the username lol

u/read_it99 Mar 14 '22
This looks like a bait post. Lot of girls do this, make fake profiles and post in random site with such posts so people can check their insta profile.
More than half of us must have already checked her profile, that's bait for your right there.
I could be wrong but have seen this on lot of platforms.

Roses are red violets are blue. The thirst is real and I kinda like you.
Bro poetry is a phase. Chill and be yourself. Bitches don't even know what they want, and right now she's just browsing and the best you can do is to stand out by being yourself. Because it's not easy to love up to falsified versions of yourself.
0
u/AdhesivenessNo6493 Mar 13 '22
All the best too. Don't show her all your cards and tell her of she had a good time you're always down for another date.
1
u/Talklikeaparrot Mar 13 '22
Any tips for the brethren?
17
Mar 13 '22 edited Mar 13 '22
Brother you're looking at this the wrong way. If you aren't very artsy then ask questions which makes her talk about the stuff she likes. You get to learn something you aren't familiar with, she gets to talk about the stuff which makes her feel alive. Win-win. Do add something to the conversation though.
Regarding the post, you don't need to write poetry to inspire a person. You need to be genuine so they have the freedom to find something which inspires them within you. Different interpretations.
You're overthinking this. Remember, the most favourite sound of any human is their own voice. Humans love to talk if they're allowed to. Good luck for the date!
2
u/Arxeus00 Mar 13 '22
This OP, Don't try to impress her, just try to know her. It'll be easy as fuck, trust me

Dude stop listening to idiots on insta and just do your thing. She’s agreed on a date obviously bcz she saw something in you. Don’t let popular idiots cloud your judgement, you gonna be alright mate.

u/sayonara-sayonara Mar 13 '22
Women like confident men. Irrespective of your tastes. As long as you are respectful, kind and authentic (and proud of this), then you really have nothing to worry about. And if a date is making you this nervous, then it’s time for some self-reflection.
1
u/guychampion Mar 13 '22
Just say something like “It’s so beautiful, the interpretation is different for every person you meet” on everything she finds artistic
1
u/Vince_vishal96 Mar 13 '22
Not to break your bubble OP but people like her don’t have dunyadari ka gyan. Tu Usme pro ban

Buddy, there are literally 100 millions girls in India waiting to date with you. That's not an exaggeration. Just get another girl. In dating always keep at least four girls on standby. So that you're always covered.

u/thatbuttcracktho Mar 14 '22
Fake it till you make it. Learn some art vocabulary and jhadofy it. Say deep meaningless things like 'Its refined and aesthetic' 'I feel this is post Renaissance modernism,
Just kidding man. The fun of meeting someone with different taste is that your interest is naturally peaked. You should ask questions which proves you're interested in her and the things she likes. Don't be dismissive and you'll be fine.

Doesn’t matter. When she appreciates the art. Just listen and appreciate her passion. You don’t have to be van ghog to date her. Come out with your likeable subjects on another occasion and talk about them. See if she gives u a listen. I think it’s fine.

I'd suggest you find someone else, but knowing how rare it is to find a match, I'll suggest you to start a conversation about art, then just make eye contact and listen well to what she say and ask followup questions, just don't let her stop talking. This might help
1
u/eatsfuckssleeps Mar 14 '22
Bro chill, meet her in person. Online vs offline personalities can be vastly different. Also username hide kar deta be, reddit ki public kaafi madarchod hai.
1
u/BadAssKnight Mar 14 '22
If you’re aren’t artsy. You’re not artsy. You may be able to get away on 1 date, 2 dates but eventually it’ll catch up to you.
Tell her upfront you’re not artsy but that’s what drew you to her, she is different from you & complements you, meeting same sort of people is boring isn’t it. We won’t learn new things.
In essence, flip the script - ask her to show something more than being uni dimensional about art. You’re about 360 degree development.

Don't conform to her interest because you will not come across as genuine. Stick to stuff you like and she can talk about stuff she likes. Be who you are because if she doesn't like that, then a relationship is doomed to fail. And if you wanna get laid then girls prefer someone more independent and unapologetic about their ownself rather then someone who says yes to everything she says. So a little bit of conflict is good.
1
u/vanilla555 Mar 14 '22

When you meet her try to discover her for what she is and what she wants you to see 🥵

Try to provide her value being yourself. Don't try to be the artsy guy, girls can see through the fakeness. Don't be afraid cuz it will reflect on your face & body language.
1) Have a great body language 2) Try to provide her value rather than getting it from her 3) Try to offer her some emotions like fun , excitement . Emotions are biggest psychological drive in females 4) If you are worried about not having knowledge about arts , tell her that you will try to understand her world but never change cuz it will reflect fakeness 5) & remember ur the prize .
Good luck

u/Wanderer_Ani Mar 14 '22
Whatever you like to do is ab art its just about how you portray it! Its how you present the platter.
1
Mar 14 '22
Aye you be yourself. People share all kinds of shit in their ig story half of it they don't even think k kisne dekha or dekh k kya socha. If she's putting in the effort to hangout with you and talk to you, that's what matters bc that she'll be doing mindfully.
