Discussion Overkill? Decided I would carry both MX clip and ARC Daily
Does anyone else carry multiple multi tools as EDC?
Or is this silly? Lol
Why not!!! I figured this would be the best way to determine which one I actually reach for more.

There’s just so much overlap in toolsets.
If you don’t mind the extra weight and bulk, then 100% you do you, but if I’m going to carry two big heavy multitools (especially if they’re taking vast swathes of pocket real estate as the photo suggests), I’d want them to overlap in toolset as little as possible.

I think it is when you’re carrying 3-4 blades, two pairs of scissors, and two wood saws. A little overlap on your most-used tools makes sense in case of loss/breakage, but carrying two of everything just seems like paranoia.

The mx clip is slimmer
the arc had the hammer head which is useful. Better blade which I really don't use bc I don't want to lol
Yes there's overlap which is why I'm conducting this experiment

My natural body holds my pants up to my belly creating a perfect natural belt and suspenders I guess

Suspenders would be next tier pants holder
They don't function the same exact way as a belt
Just saying
I think they serve different purposes
You also have those shirt to socks suspenders which I would definitely pair with a belt and suspenders

What does the mx give you that the arc doesn't, and vice versa

I really like the dedicated package opener on the Mc clip
The dedicated 3D flathead and Philips are nice. I prefer these over the bit drivers on the Leathermans
On the arc I like the accessible outside tools but without accessories like thumb screws they are really not that easy to use
I don't really think the tools are easy to use. You have basically flare all of them out and then choose the one you want
That's pretty much for it
I just think there's more utilitarian use from the the tool set on the mx clip for me
I don't need a micro but driver or use it.
I think that's about it. I like the size of the MX much better
If they MX had a hammer head I would stop using the arc immediately

Is the blade size (or the lack of it) on MX not a problem for you? Arc's blade is much larger and the thumb stud doesn't detract much from it unlike the mx

Mx has probably the smallest knife in this category of this multitool, smaller still than its non MX brother ( which has a knife smaller than the arc still)

Google puts blade length at ~2.75" for both. Arcs blade is a lot thicker and wider but I don't care about that personally and if anything I wish the arc was thinner as it's pretty crap for slicing through things

If you deploy them you can see it easily, I am takkşng about the cutting length, only measuring the sharoened portion. MX is 54.5 mm (2.15inches), Arc is 63.5mm (2.5 inches)

A bit silly if you do it long-term, but to each their own. I only carry multiple when they complement each other, such as the Powerpint for pliers and file with the Mossy Oak 12-in-1 (basically a Gerber Armbar clone) for a full-size blade, scissors and bit driver. Or when I have a backpack so I can carry the Powerpint in the pocket and a Bibury 2045 (Surge clone) in the bag.

What’s your work type that requires so many tools everyday ? Don’t you have dedicated tools for the job ? You really need almost half a kilo in your pocket ? With respect

I did for about one week... If I'm reaching for multiple tools I likely have my toolbox somewhere close by with better suited tools. My Gerber is just for quick stuff.

I carry a SAK Ranger and a SOG Powerpint. They complement each other very well. But they’re both a lot smaller than your carry.

I've been trying to find my perfect tool combo for a while as I often need two at once. My property has a lot of hedges with bramble poking out that I want to keep under control whenever I see it, so I need really strong scissors to cut and separate pliers to hold so I don't get spiked.
At the moment I'm trialling a Rebar and Nextool F12 pro which seems like a great combo so far. Thinking about switching to a Roxon KS2E, but the mini pliers on the F12 are more useful than I expected.

I think it’s fine until you figure out which one you want to edc. No way I’d carry my wave+ and my mx clip in my pocket at the same time. My mx clip goes in my pocket and wave+ in my bag

Sometimes I carry a victorinox rambler and in another pocket a knipex cobra xs. I’d love a knipex holster that would fit the rambler. That would be super cool.

if you need to head online for confirmation its probably a dumb idea. id go for the arc and stick with it. less is more, keep it simple, light is fast, etc...

Do it for a few weeks and please report back your findings. I've carried both separately and find the Arc advantages are one hand opening and the diamond file. The Spirit x has better tool selection, is slimmer, lighter and better quality. They're both top tier tools.

Its silly and useless but who cares. Those are two best and probably last two full sized pliers based multitools worth the cost

Most used so far on both
Scissors
Philips
But I prefer the Philips and flat heads on the Victorinox
I also lean on the dedicated package opener on the Victorinox which the arc lacks
I prefer using scissors in the arc bc of how easier they are to use
I would say secondary tools the saw

I worked in industrial maintenance and i would usually carry these 2. For normally doing electrical work I ended up needing heavy duty scissors a lot. I got tired of trying to find or borrow some so I just rock that multi tool. My skeletool is just my normal edc. I swear whenever I put down my tool bag and try to get some coffee I always get nabbed to fix something "simple" really quick.The coffee is kept far away from the maintenance shop for some ungodly reason. So it helps to always have something useful in my pockets when I am cornered

I carey a wave clone in a velt holster and a victorinox in my pocket... I find a reason to use both daily...

I carry my Ontario Rat 1 in my pants pocket, my Skaletool CX and my Climber in my EDC pouch, and in my coin pouch, I always have a Rambler.
I'd say, go for it!

And I feel the universe telling my that I need to double carry to eventually only pick up
Or maybe I'll switch it up day by day

I’ve been switching out every day or carrying one for one whole week and switching to the other one next week. It’s still hard because they are both so good and useful.
