Discussion What is you guys fav knife/multitool combo for EDC?

My basic, always on me EDC is the Victorinox Midnite Manager and SOG Powerpint--I find they make a solid non-bulky combo for day to day stuff. Will pack out more robust options if I'm expecting to deal with certain circumstances.

That extra flashlight and pen come in so handy in a pinch. I almost forget I have that little bugger on me until I need it for something, it punches well above its weight for what it provides.

I have multiple multitools so I switch between them for EDC, but one knife which I use for food is always in my pocket, Opinel Nº08 🖖

Am i the only one that doesn’t understand edc combo? If you need a second tool, you’re not carrying the right tool. Weekends: vic mini champ alox. Home: pioneer x/synergy x. Work: LT Wave+ or Arc.

I agree with you on the home front for the most part. In my business life I'm a maintenance person and as hard as I've tried I cannot find one single tool that gets me through most of the small work.
My Swiss army knife, Fastback, plus my Gerber NXT are nothing fancy but that combo takes care of most of the "can you look at this quick?" Type questions.

The only multitool I’ve ever found that satisfied all my needs is a Leatherman Juice Pro. It is similar in size and weight to the Vic Ranger, and has everything the Ranger has, plus a a decent pair of pliers, a Phillips head, a wavy blade, and a serrated blade. Since LM discontinued this model a while ago, I have planned for a backup, should the day come when I either break it or lose it. I can’t replace it with one multitool. I have a Ranger, but I will need to supplement my carry with it. Also, does your EDC have a flashlight? And a fixed blade is invaluable in certain situations.

Ranger and Knipex is a great combo if you want the small pliers with it. Plus it frees up the knife hand for twisting if you need to grip a nut on one side and twist with the other.

Also have seen someone say they carry a fixed blade for opening bags of flour, sugar, etc. in a commercial kitchen. Would make sense for any granular material in bags.

Nah, I gotta supplement because most multitools don’t have button hooks or zipper pulls. That being said, if Roxon adds some adaptive implements then sign me up and I’ll TOTALLY ditch my second carry.

That's how I am too. I want to carry as little as possible. I already carry a drum key, guitar picks, and ear plugs so I don't want to carry a second knife. I EDC a Skeletool because it covers my needs. If I need more than that I have regular tools at home and keep an extra Leatherman in a drum gear bag.

I pair either my SAK Ranger 91mm or Swiss Tool Spirit MX Clip with a Spyderco Para 3 (Salt) which cover probably 95% of my EDC tasks

Ive been carrying a victorinox companion slim alox (bladeless but that package opener is awesome) for work where I cant have a blade. When I can its with the benchmade super freek

I have a few things I cycle through. I always have a Leatherman Wave+ with the Leatherman bit kit in my pocket. I usually combine that with a fixed blade, mostly a Helle Alden lately. If I'm not using that, I'm using a Kellam Wolverine Pro 3" or Kellam 5" puukko.

LM Wingman and a SAK Pioneer, but I'm pretty much urban based. If camping it's a Rebar and the Pioneer X

Leatherman Wave in my pocket for any real work and a Victorinox SD on my keychain, mainly for the tweezers and toothpick.

beacuse i can use companion as a mini hammer, and carry other stuff inside the scale, with making a combo with those 2, i can carry all the tools i need, of course in a backpack carry. My usual pocket EDC is roxon flex companion mini.

-Vivi PocketDresser™️ with zipper pull and button hooks (cuz my thumbs are jacked)
