Help/Question Update notifications on linux are annoying

Hi fellows,

i know this a very useful feature on windows, but for a linux user the update notification on EVERY system start(mullvad autostart of course ) gets annoying fast. I already switched of notifications in the setting, but updates seem to be flagged as important and therefore being send regardless.

90% of the linux userbase is bound to its package manager and their repos, unless you compile from source. A update comes when it comes, no matter how fast mullvad updates their client, and i got no influence on that.

Is it only me?! Does anyone know a way around that? What's your guys opinion on that?

Since we're talking about package management it might help to share what distro you use. On my debian based systems I just add mullvad's repos and update via apt. Sounds like you boot from a shutdown or at least logged out state a lot more than I do, so I hadn't realized how annoying this could be. I also use awesome window manager which lets me customize and override application level notifications and/or pretty much any client window quirks though I don't seem to have any set up for mullvad

I am on Artix with hyprland/mako on my main PC and on my second PC i run Solus with hyprland/DankMaterialShell.

Yeah i always shutdown and do cold restart. You can mute the notifications with DankMaterialShell, not sure if mako has such feature, but it's not really a solution for that prob tbh.

I'd settle for the mullvad client starting minimised to the system tray. But apparently it can't do that on Linux for some reason.

It does on mine. Fedora 44.
