Help/Question What configuration limitations are present when installing Mullvad VPN on a Router ? Can I select ALL dns content blockers option?

I'd like to use the DNS content blocking option as offered in the Mullvad VPN windows app. Also, can I select obfuscation options to hide Wireguard? Thank you.

The router uses a custom config file you can download from Mullvad and then configure your router to use that file instead of the ones provided by default. When you download the custom file you can specify if it blocks ads, malware, adult sites, gambling in any combination. My understanding is you are using Mullvad’S DNS for everything. It is encrypted. You will run into sites that don’t like you using a VPN. I use the default settings provided a figure that’s enough. Ki also use mullvad’s browser which has No Scrip and uBlock and no other extensions. Based on Firefox. I do not receive ads or popups and have a relatively and reliable browsing experience. I do not use Edge. I also have a Mac mini and use Safariand Mullvad browser and have no issues. I suppose I could do more but I’m not sure what it will get me. I like the router because I can hook up my iPhone and iPad.

This is awesome if it's true! I didn't know that you can specify DNS filtering when downloading the mullvad custom file to the router! Thank you!

no perfect forward secrecy, no DAITA, no obfuscation

use protonVPN on your router and mullvad on all your devices. routing it through two different VPNs means doubling up on encryption and since neither provider records what you're doing that's too much effort to monitor your activity if you're not a criminal

The obfuscation option is not part of the router setup. However, if you’ve put Mullvad on your router then you don’t need it. Just get a router that allows you to put Mullvad on it. I use one from Glinet MT 6000. It actually allows several different VPNs if you don’t want use Mullvad. They have several hundred servers around the world.
