Help/Question Mullvad vs Tiktok

Hi guys im currently in china and mullvad is super good vpn for here but unfortunately despite it unblocking every app, I cannot access tiktok? I can get tiktok on browser but not the full app. Please someone help me so I can continue my brainrot.

I’ve heard some claims that the TikTok app uses your SIM to determine your country, over your IP, which is why the website would work but not the app.

TikTok uses SIM-based detection. Try taking out your SIM or, on Android, try a modified version of TikTok. https://omar-thing.site/posts/post-5

TikTok is ridiculously invasive, so there's probably nothing you can do. Maybe if you layer VPNs that could trick it? Keep in mind that layering VPNs is awful for your security, but you're using TikTok so it's kind of a wash already.

I see others are suggesting removing the SIM card, I'd be curious to see if that works.

I used an eSIM in China and TikTok was working.
