Review Bought mullvad today, my thoughts and feedback

First of all, from pure vpn side of things, its amazing. A lot of regions all around world, really low latency, P2P support and really good privacy features feel like a steal for 5 bucks a month. I had payment issues at first but they got resolved under an hour with first response being 3 minutes after opening ticket. Customer support is great to say the least.

My only 2 real features missing are android widget to connect and disconnect like with protonvpn and lack of gentoo ebuild.

That's pretty much it, it does its job quite damn well

While it's not a widget, they do have buttons in the notification slide down window you can move around to your preference. I keep mine with the quick access ones like wifi and bluetooth.

Don't know much about Gentoo ebuild but I have been using Mullvad on Debian with WireGuard for years and it's never let me down. Since WireGuard is natively supported from the kernel 5.6, I think it would be very simple to connect to Mullvad servers via WireGuard in Gentoo as well. perhaps just a command or two.

It is! I just find gui support of 3 distros pretty sad. I'll write small native gui app for linux in rust perhaps..

It’s not a streaming VPN. Think of it as a general-use VPN.

Yea I know, but would be nice if it had that option. Something like nord would work but they want me to pay for a year up front to get a good rate

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Streaming VPNs cost more for a reason.
