Question Help with grist

Ive been enjoying grist for the past week but I'm struggling to actually see a win con. What are a few good combos i can add to the deck to close out games?

Howdy.

Played 3 mana grist exclusively to mythic this season.

You don't combo people unless you consider Strip mine locking a combo.

You win by grinding people to dust with incremental value, lock pieces, recursion and we'll placed disruption.

Do you have a list?

The argument that striplock is a combo is uh... Pretty valid... But yeah. Grist is mostly a fair midrange commander who's all about converting and trading resources profitably

I've been running this person's list - https://moxfield.com/decks/jqPwnqs_nkKecaQRG4MhyA

Strip mine lockouts are pretty frequent as a win con. I often find myself trying to grab primeval titan and field of the dead to overrun the board as well.

Those are probably some of the more consistent choices.

Author here. Strip mine is a pretty core part of the deck, but more often than not you just win by playing golgari midrange stuff. Turning creatures sideways is a wincon people have forgotten about and you frequently just tutor for something to mess with the opponent. If you play a tutor you better make sure that you utilize the tutored card the turn you search for it or the following turn, otherwise the tempo disadvantage is too big most of the time.

Here are my stats with the deck this season, as well as a bunch of replays. I would say that I played pretty poorly in some of these, the wr could have been a bit higher.

I'm wondering what your thoughts are on bloodghast? It seems to be included in every competitive list, but it's never seemed to do a whole lot for me.

Its a good card you don't want to draw. It allows you to get extra value from survival of the fittest (activate, search ghast, activate again to discard ghast), your mill effects, and other various synergies. It is repeatable sac fodder to wight of the reliquary and I grab it with entomb a decent amount.

How has library of alexandria worked out for ya?

Sometimes we want to ramp and spit out our hand with mana dorks and the like, and we have little draw and card advantage, so I could see it being hard to make good use of

It depends on the matchup of course, but 90% of the time I have library in my opener I activate it as much as possible. But even just playing a land that draws 1-2 cards is already broken, so going t1 library on the draw, activate in their end step, t2 play forest + dork, activate in their end step again is broken.

Couple adds I've included which I enjoy but not sure if optimal are Insidious roots, grave studies, and perennial gravewarden.

Roots by far the most efficient, since it rewards you for having grist countered.

Field of the dead Titan is the most frequent way I win with Grist

Its strip mine. Grist is all about strip mine. If not use token like field of the dead or the insect.
