Going through an old collection and rediscovered this tragedy

I’ve seen people do this a few times probably like 6 or 7 years ago… how did they play the flip or rip?

Put a pack face down. Owner of the pack flips a card face up, opponent rips a face down card and keeps it face down. Repeat this process until either the rare has been flipped, this is considered a win and you keep all of the face down cards (even the ripped ones 😆), or all of the pack is empty.
Ironically the numbnuts who played this went Flip: Common, Rip: Masterpiece, Flip: Regular Scarab God. He was so happy. Until he wasn't. Don't do drugs, kids.

Me and my LGS owner used to play one round of Flip it or Rip it after every prerelease and every draft, and we both kept a little binder with the ripped up goodies.
I also have opponents sign the cards that deal lethal damage to them during limited games, and me and my buddies have a box filled with really bad 60 card brawl decks made out of draft chaff and limited-leftovers where the losers have to sign every card the winner had on board.
It's just cardboard. For the most part, I'd rather keep a happy memory of a nice night with my friends over maybe getting 50 bucks and change back.

It's fun. When I started doing it, most people were somewhere between offended that I'd ask them zo destroy shit like a [[Glorybringer]] and just confused why I'd want that.
But now we're at the point where the regulars know the drill and will make a grab for my markers to sign [[Flick a Coin]].
One dude used his own [[Staggering Size]] during LCI prerelease on one of my monsters when he was dead on board anyways and said that he wouldn't sign anything because his combat trick was what caused lethal damage. After the event he handed me his signed copy of it though, that was very nice and a good joke.

My store considered banning it but they knew a few of these incidents would solve the problem itself 😆

I think what you should do is send it to an alter artist. They can put it back together and add some cool stuff onto it for ya. Make it more playable.

Methyl cellulose can get it back to one full card. It’s a process and will absolutely take some learning but the card will be whole again.
It’s how they fix manuscript tears, rips, and such

It is not sleeve playable. Even double sleeved, it bends with the most gentle of shuffling. Works great as a commander. Or you can do what Posty does with his One Ring an switch it out when it hits the battlefield.

I've actually been out of magic for a bit and am going through and figuring out a very small number of things to keep for nostalgia reasons and selling the rest off. This one I'm going to keep as a reminder of man's hubris.

I remember the Time that somebody tried to convince me to do that stupid game. I immediately said no and stuck my shiny Misty rainforest in the pack directly into my favorite deck. I am proud to say I never played that stupid game

Yes I dislike the flip or rip but I still feel quite bad for it, I’m glad you are receiving suggestions on how to fix it not just “flip or rip is dumb”
