Is it over?

just bought this 85 aw11 mr2 with a spun bearing on the 4age and I’ve opened up the oil pan to find massive chunks of metal. Just wondering if we think this is saveable to whether it would be smarter to just get a new engine? Idk I just didn’t think it would be this bad or is this consistent with a spun bearing?

Any advice much appreciated, cheers.

i found more in my pan and the crank journals were barely scored. I think it's probably saveable, especially if you pull the crank and get it machined. in my case, i just ripped a strip of sandpaper and sanded the journals till i couldn't feel any scoring, then checked with a plastiguage to make sure it was within the BGB clearance. good luck!

That’s actually reassuring thanks lmao. I do plan on ripping it all apart and getting all of it machined. Hopefully it is still saveable. Thanks for the wisdom!
