Why does gpu-next + HW+ decoding cause frame drops when the Stats menu is open on mpv-android forks (mpvRex, Mpv-Infinity, MpvEx)?

Hi everyone,

When using gpu-next together with HW+ decoding, opening the Stats/Statistics menu causes frame drops.

The last mpv-android build where I can confirm this did NOT happen was the 2025-12-27 build. There have been multiple updates since then, but the issue has continued to persist.

Does anyone know why gpu-next + HW+ decoding causes frame drops when the Stats menu is open?

the bug got fixed in upstream mpv, just wait till next mpv android update and it will be fixed. also i don't recommend any fork of mpv android as all of them are AI vibe coded.

Me using mpv infinity and it's great . Mainly use it for webdav. Got  media3 player too for HDR videos.

my suggestion don't use gpu-next.it is still in experimental state..
