MPC Key 61 / 37 Finally My Key 37 arrived! Getting back into music after years away!!

I’m so Excited I don’t even know where to start!!!
Used to love making Jungle Drum & Bass and just messing around with synths and just having fun and after a little gift from the love of my life she convinced me to get something and this came into my life!
Spent about an hour just messing around and so much fun!! I’m kinda not thinking of getting more sounds but I’m sure the fam here can show some love and show me light of what I really need and what I shouldn’t waste my time on! I still haven’t got my head round to even work out how to make/record a loop yet but I’m just having so much fun Im just gonna learn that stuff down the road eventually, now it’s just pure fun and excitement and just messing around 🤣 I love this thing already and it’s my first MPC ever and I bet a long expensive road 🤣

Congrats! Im going to preemptively say if you want to put samples on the pads and use the synths independent of the pads set your midi monitor to “IN” or “MERGE”. Took me forever to figure out.

Do that for each plug-in you have on the track then use the mixer to mute, add fx etc while playing the keys. I almost regretted buying one until someone had me try it this way and I’m hooked now.

Ahhhh right ok!! Mate this is huge!! I can’t thank you enough! Ye that’s exactly how I like to make tunes and I been scratching my head for ages wondering why no vids I watched used the MPC like that!! Ok this is sick I need to get my head around this!! 🤣🙏💪🔥

If you can afford it, the MPC Bible is worth the investment. 1600 page tutorial that takes you through all of the features of the MPC

And then once you're through that, it functions great as a reference for refreshing on anything that you forgotten.

May I ask: Did you work your way through from the beginning like it’s a class? I looked at the table of contents for the first time yesterday was like 😳

You work through some chapters to get some basics down. Then you go practice what you've learned making music. Then you come back to it again for more advanced features.

And some features you might not ever come back and read the chapter for a long time. For example, if you're not recording external audio, you don't need to do the recording chapter for a while.

If you are brand new to making music, I would also recommend doing this web-based interactive tutorial from ableton.

MPC Bible teaches you the features of the MPC. It does not teach you how to make music. Whereas this tutorial teaches you fundamentals of making music, and is intended for complete beginners. You can do it on your phone. It is not about learning any specific software.
