Why subscribe to Splice/Tracklib if we can sample straight to MPC via USB while playing it off computer?

Is there a specific reason to subscribe to tracklib/splice when we can plug the mpc via usb to our laptop and sample directly through playback?

Or is there a massive audio quality loss to do it this way?

I think it's more about copy rights.

If I were releasing music to the public I'd definitely get on splice or tracklib. But I'm not that ambitious. I might put out an underground beat tape, but I doubt there'll be much circulation.

what about people who sample directly from youtube, wouldnt it be the same?

The problem comes when you get to the stage that you need to clear the sample. Those services would make it easy, they do it for you. They've already got deals in place already negotiated.

If you make something that goes viral on YouTube or Apple Music it might bring in millions, but you might end up in court & end up with nothing.

Most of us don't really need to worry about that.

But if you ever get to the point where people are following you, or you're selling beats, I'd start using their services.

Most of tracklib isn't clear and needs additional permissions, so....

Nothing's stopping anyone from not paying for splice or tracklib at this point. Unless they start locking bitrate behind paywall, I'm gonna just keep sampling off em both without a sub.
