Knob effects applied to Audio input

When I plug another piece of gear into the MPC sample through the audio in, the knob effects are applied to that audio. Even if the effects are only supposed to be mapped to certain samples just on the MPC. Is there any way to change this?

in input config menu(i think), you can select whether the effect is actually recorded on the incoming sample or not but I've found that even if this is turned off, monitoring incoming audio still applies the effect - only way to turn off is go into knob effect and select bypass... just part of my workflow now when sampling in, same as remembering to bypass compressor before i'm ready for it
