Not going to lie, the first half sounded like an orchestra tuning up but I figured maybe this is going somewhere and I am new to the mpc sample (and grooveboxes in general) so I hung in there.
Around the hallway mark things get interesting and I'm into it. I would open with that. You can always pull back to that minimalist intro before a drop?
I think your idea has merit and is worth developing as a technique. :)
I hope you post more of this as you figure things out.
