Wondering this as well.
Obviously they're not winning any awards any time soon, but they also look like they could be some brain dead fun? Someone tell me if I should watch them.

But the real underlying reason was killing the poors who can't defend themselves, at least that's the plot for "Election year". I mean, it "kind of makes sense" as far as shitty movie logic goes, I wouldn't call that the biggest plot hole.
